I am a stay at home mom. To gain a little extra money, I began selling Avon. So far I'm doing great with family and friends but how do I go about expanding my business. I'm not a shy person but don't like to hear no either.

Wow! I asked that question yesterday! Ha! What I do is go out and walk with my brother at night and while doing that put Avon books at peoples door or on their vehicle. So far that hasnt worked. Yesterday I printed out little $5 bills and $10 off the net and made copies. I'm gonna stick them at the front of the books and it says that if they buy $25+ they can take $5 off and $10 off of $45+. You could try that. Good luck! |

I would assume that Avon provides its reps with resources to expand your business...ie. training tapes, materials, ect...I know that Mary K and some of the other do...you may have to buy that stuff but I could be worth the $... |

You can leave catalogs around where places are busy. Doctors offices, dentists, laundry mats, etc. That might be a way to get some extra business. Its worth a try :-) |

Drop it into your childrens school for the teachers to look at, or mention it to other mums. Then if that works get your partner to take into work and pass it around. a woman at work used to do it, and she earns a few hundred pounds a month. |

You gotta be prepared to hear no, even with Avon products. You are a sales person, and if you don't want to hear no, then I don't know what to tell you.
But when you do get no's you just can't let it affect you, it's the product they don't like, not you. |

Many years ago I had an Avon lady who would drop catalogs in my mailbox, ring the doorbell, introduce herself and let me know that if I wanted to see the latest items, she would be happy to show me.
We ended up watching our children grow together because she would drop off catalogs each and every month, then call me a few days before the campaign ended to see what I needed. I'm glad she did because half the time I needed something, but would forget to call her.
She always brought over the latest products to show me and I often ordered a few hundred dollars worth of products. I even did a bunch of Christmas shopping through her.
My daughter was 2 yrs old when Joan started this and she is now 21 and we still have a great relationship!
She did this with everyone on my block and she was the top sales rep in our area.
When Joan started having problems getting around, she decided to pair up with my home business which is in the health and wellness industry, so she now has 2 streams of income and runs her Avon business primarily by phone.....but her health is improving!
I guess the bottom line is to create relationships with people and they will never let you down. |

Lobo is kind of right. If you get out and try to sale to people you don't know you will probably be told no sometimes. If you don't like to be told no then sales is not for you. |

You can try selling it on ebay. But be very careful. I like the one; leaving your material around even though books will cost you. |

Take a look at how I do my psychic business from home.
Then see if you can fit something similar around your own area of expertise with Avon. (About $300 will get you started.)

Hi! Join an Avon Group online. Go to MSN groups and look for/ search for Debbi's Avon. She's shy, too. I joined that group, also. Consider going door to door and hanging a brochure on everyone's doorknob. This will take a Lot of brochures, but it's worth the effort. If you are really shy, go at night after 10PM and be quiet, or during mid-day. Put your business card up anywhere you can. Talk to your priest/minister/rabbi/etc. about doing a fundraiser. Leave your brochure at laundromats, in coffee shops, at barber shops, etc. Leave one in the waiting room at the doctor's office. Offer a brochure to people. if they say no thanks, don't worry. Try to hear 10 "no's" before quitting for the day or do the Power of 3 - Offer 3 a day. Put the sign in your front yard. (even a home-made sign) Put a sign on your car. I wish you luck. Oh, and there are Avon groups in yahoo, too.
DON'T sell on ebay. You could lose your AVON business!! not to mention, those who do sell on ebay may be getting away with it now, but sooner or later, Avon will find out.
