Don't hint around about it. Tell him you deserve & expect a raise that covers all of your responsibilities. If needed remind him everything you just told us and make sure you also include the no benefits part. Sweety, theres no chains holding you there, take your good work ethics somewhere else if he doesn't appreciate you.

You only have two choices, either wait until your annual review (or anniversary of hire) or look for another higher paying job. Once you have the higher paying job offerred then you can give your boss the ultimatum.

You really should learn to write better if you are professional.

You know unfortunately this is something we have all experienced - more for less...it sucks.

The first thing you have to do is be patient.
The second thing is to take a week or two period and document EVERYTHING YOU DO.
The third - find a comparision job with a higher pay.

Employers want documentation - sometimes we fully don't get the full perspective of what one particular employee is doing (your task documentation works here).

Also you want to show what other employers are paying (2-3 other company positions and pay documentations).

Be professional and back up everything you say. Be nice...more bees with honey but also be firm. Tell them you appreciate and love your job but at the same time you have financial responsibilities you need to ensure your position can fill.

Also don't be affraid to look for other work (behind the scenes) - take your career by the horns.

Good luck.

Jen
wow ur boss is kinda selfish

i say you should be treated better than that. Be serious, tell your boss that if he/she does not give you the raise you deserve, you will gladly find a new place to work at

and its rather sad too...since my friend is 16 and she gets paid around 9 bucks at the theatres :/

Just say I want a raise or I'm out.

I wouldn't say anything, just find a better job. When you give him your two week notice tell him why, or better yet, show him your Question from Y A.

Say something like "This really IS too much work for my pay" close to the boss to some one. Im not sure, Im only 12 ;)
here:
Know your company's policies. Are you supposed to have annual performance reviews to determine your salary? Do salaries advance according to a fixed schedule or rank? Who can make the decision (or ask for it to be made)? Read the employee handbook (and company intranet, if you have one), or better yet, talk to someone in Human Resources.
Know what you're worth. Find out the usual salary range for those who do what you do in your region or area. If possible, get numbers that take into account:
Your job description
Your responsibility, including any management tasks
Your years of experience
Your seniority in the company
Your education
Your location
Prepare a list of your accomplishments. You can memorize the list or present a written copy to your boss for his or her reference. If you choose to present a written copy, have somebody proofread it for you first.
Make your case. Pay particular attention to problems you have worked on, and how you helped solve them. Why are you worth more money to your employer? How have business operations and profits improved since and because you've been there?
Did you complete or help to complete a tough project?
Did you work extra hours or meet an urgent deadline?
Did you take initiative?
Did you go beyond the call of duty?
Did you save the company time or money?
Did you improve any systems or processes?
Did you support or train others?
Set time aside. If you just walk up and ask for a raise, you'll seem unprepared, and, well, like you don't deserve one. You don't have to give too much advance notice. Just say when you walk in to work in the morning "Before you leave, I'd like to speak with you." If your boss is really busy or disorganized, you might want to make an appointment.

Just say to her/him..Is there a raise in my future because i feel like i well deserve one Just be bold and let them know..You think its that time!!

You need to approch him when he is alone in his office, ask him if he has a minute to speak with you. Walk in and shut the door and sit down. Explain your situation in a serious manner and how you feel about it. Tell him you DESERVE a raise.

Don't make it sound like a joke, express your feelings.Chances are he will listen, as he already knows the work you do, and sinec you confronted him in a serious manner, he will probably give it to you.

Business owners are always very busy people and pay much attention to who is doing what. Even if they are not physically in the building, believe me , the smart ones still know what goes on.

Also, being very busy, he may have already thought about giving you one, but just has not acted on it because of his schedule. Once you slow him down, and have a face to face with him, he will realize what he needs to do if he thinks you are a valued employee. DON'T BE AFRAID to ask for what you deserve.

I tried this years ago with my old boss and I was scared to death, but I went in his office, closed the door and asked. He pretty much gave me a very nice raise without much talk.

Hope this helps

It sounds like this guy is taking you for a ride.
In the beginning you were probably happy to do it, and so therefore your really only doing what you were initially happy to do, he cant really see that you need a raise and of course he wont want to part with his money.
Paying his personal bills, ie: child support- that's a big no-no that is definitely crossing professional boundaries. You have to get him to realise that with-out you the shop would fall apart, pretty much you have to make your self indispensable, other wise you need to quit!
