aaaronM | How to become a bount hunter in the UK? Where to start..? |
Can anyone help me get started into becoming a bounty hunter in the UK. I've done a bit of research on the internet and all I could come up with was how to do it in the US. I however have struggled in finding where to start when it comes to becoming a Bounty Hunter (bail agent) in the UK. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

do we have bounty hunters in the UK? |

Since we don't have bonds posted on people in the UK, it wouldn't be much of a job really. You could become a piece of scum bailiff if you have no morals though...? |

the law isnt the same and at the moment there are no self employed bail bondsmen in the uk although people do recieve bounties for tracing debtors |

you can't in uk, we don't do bonds, plus would be illegal. |

i assume you'd have to move to the US to be a bounty hunter, there is no real need for a bounty hunter in the UK. |

Only in America would you find such low life scum bags that should be bounty hunted themselves. I guess you can start by getting some skin-tight leather trousers, a hat and ultimately make yourself as obnoxious and repulsive as Dog. |

What a fantastic question.
I'm guessing you're probably quite young and watch a lot of TV... |

You can always recognise bounty hunters because they're always hanging around sweet shops. I think there's not much call for bounty hunters in this country, more of an American think which perhaps some of our American friends might want to comment on or look in the ''job opportunites' in the local newspaper. What about the job centre?
I think if you want that job you will end up in the US.
I think it is a highly thought of job, everyone looks up to you. Not. |

We don't have them in the UK. So, there is no use in thinking about trying to become one here.
You see we have a good Police Force here that do the work for us and it is illegal here so keep to your side of the pond we don't want any of that money making nonsense here thank you.

Oh, and one more thing. A reply to Fran H. Yes, we do have "Bounty Hunters" in the UK who mainly work freelance for the Magistrates Courts and earn a commision payable by the Tax Payer if we are successful in the offenders apprehension. There isn't actually a UK Police force, rather lots of different Police Forces that operate as independent forces across the UK with there own regulations and policy's, and not all of those forces are 100% perfect as the 2010 audit for Humberside Police Force will show. Hence why the UK Security Industry is booming right now with DOUBLE the amount of Security Officers on the streets undertaking tasks normally carried out by Police Officers, and not one Police Force in the UK has opened it's doors for recruitment since the middle of LAST year!. Face it, the Police Forces accross the UK are failing to provide a decent service to the residents of England, and I can predict that in the very near future, UK Security Officers will have a much more "Hands on Roll" just like those of the USA. Check out the SIA Website for actual facts on what us Security Officers are actually and lawfully aloud to do. |

Ok.. I don't understand why people think it's against the law to bring soneone into custody just because we are civi's.. I have arrested for Assualt, Criminal Damage, Theft, Public Dissorder Offences and so forth and am LEGALLY trained, insured and LICENSED to use Handcuffs (RIgid). Please check out the SIA Website for more information on the legalities and various training required to undertake such tasks and also speak to the UK Law Courts (mainly the Magistrates) on how to become a Freelance "Bounty Hunter" |
