Focus on your target market, decide what this is, and make your store attractive to them. There are so many clothing stores around now, you have to offer somthing unique.
Get out there and talk with people, make your shop a fun place to go.... somewhere people think of when they want new clothes, be diferent be fun and stand out... you also need to make sure your stock is in line with your prospective market.... no point in stocking stuff they do not want! Also remember GP is important no point in shifting prodduct on mass if you dont have the GP!!! |

This desrves a lot of consideration, not that you can get it wrong, but you need to document your approach in a scientific manner. I know it sounds as if I am talking fruitcakeville, however people really do go shopping choosing the asethics and ambience as an unconscious thing.
They know they buy from the place they visit, however, if they really examine why, it could be quite revealing. Smells play a huge part in keeping the attractions going.
The use of food, incense, coffee, can all play a part in making their experience more pleasurable, and they don't cost the earth.
Use of freebie principles also help to encourage and influence buying trends, i.e. 'Buy one, get one half price', 'Buy any two, get the third free', 'All blue crossed goods half priced for today(or future date)'.
All of the above efforts will bring customers to your store.
The dangers are that relaying on reduction of items does not get your store remembered for quality or service.
Working on the later can only really be achieved in view of your long term plan for a successful store.
Couple this this with some good market research, marketing and implementation, the clients are bound to return, but you do have to stand out from the crowd, not by much, but enough to be appreciated and attract repeat business, especially word of mouth.
Use the information gathering process as a way of really experimenting safely. Talk to friends, relatives and other peoples customers, about why they shop where they do, learn from their experience and implemet those changes to improve yourmarket cummunications.
One step a time, do not overcrowd or confuse your customers, I am not advocating that shoppers are in any way stupid, however, with simply lines, easy ailes, good colour scheme, and excellent customer service, most proprietors make an absolute killing.
All the very best
Be lucky
