I used to live in NW Arkansas. Near Ft. Smith. It depends on what you want to do really. Making money isn't that tough if you have a plan. The trick is to find something that the community needs, and find a way to supply that need.
You said you lived in a very rural area. If you know your neighbors, you may be able to do chores for them. Mow their lawns for twenty bucks once a week. Do their lawndry for fourty dollars once a week. Or clean their house once a week for fifty dollars once a week.
If you have any skill at baking, you may be able to ask your neighbors if you could make their kids cupcakes, or cookies to put in their backpacks for school to help you make ends meet. The great thing about Arkansans is they still have that southern kindness. They are willing to help out, if they see you are willing to put forth the effort.
If you know anything about sewing, you can offer to alter dresses for neighbors, ( my wife did that in several areas we lived in and made TONS of extra cash).
That is about all the advice I can give you without knowing any specifics.
Good luck

You do not say how old you are, but...you can ask friends and family if you ca do some chores for them..Clean out a garage, house cleaning, gardening, sweeping of a driveway, run errands for someone, make phone calls regarding problem matters,
etc., watch someone's home while they are away, advertise to feed and clean up after pets while someone is away, clean up pet waste for people, this one can make you rich, no one likes to do it. Clean someones swimming pool. Etc.
Good luck. |

Depend how old you are. If your not old enough to get a job, help your parents around the house. If you are 15+ then try getting a job or selling stuff on Ebay. Another way is by making your own website and charging emittion. :) Thats all i can think of. |

How to Manage and Start a Home - Based Business
1) Think large for the long term, but think small in the beginning. Start your business by contacting people that you know ( friends, family, neighbors etc. ). Let these people know that you are in business, and explain to them what a convenient service you provide.
(2) Network your business as a fund-raiser. Contact local schools, churches, civic groups etc. who want to raise money for their organization and keep a percentage of sales as your profit.
(3) Take advantage of any gift giving occasion ( holidays, birthdays, engagements, graduations, etc.) Keep a log of all special occasions for your customers.
(4) Contact local business who having waiting areas (family doctor, pediatrician, dentist, beautician, mechanics etc.) This is an excellent opportunity for you to offer your service at little or no additional cost to the customer.
(5) Ask existing customers for referrals. Most businesses get their start this way. For example: Your beautician built his or her client base from referrals of existing customers. Word of mouth is the most powerful form of advertisement.
(6) Contact your local Chamber of Commerce to get a listing of businesses ( and their address / Phone Number) in your area. Write a letter of introduction, or use our suggested letter of introduction, to contact them. There may be a small fee to get this list.
(7) Contact large businesses in your area.
(8) Keep updates on new residents in your area. Write a letter to welcome them to the community and tell them about your service. Form a business relationship with a local company that deals with major purchases ( real estate brokers, car salesman ).
(9) Build relationships with your customers. Follow up with existing customers on a regular basis ( every 3 mos. ) . And there are NO problems. Hint: Customers follow up is crucial to your business. If you do not follow up, your credibility can be destroyed. If you only call your customers once a year (when it is time to renew ), they will be less likely to renew through you if there have been problems and you were not available to handle them throughout the year.

10 Key Steps to Starting a Business
There are several key steps to starting a business in the City of San Diego. The steps may vary according to the type of business you intend to start, but the following 10 steps will give you a general idea.
1.Get Basic Information
The Public Library provides significant resource materials, including
information on market research, trademark and service marks, how–to books on a variety of businesses and industries, etc. The Library also offers workshops on patent, trademark and copyright issues.
2. Create a Business Plan
A business plan is like a roadmap; it shows you where you are in relation to where you want to be. Whether you believe in a business plan or not, starting a business involves many ideas that need to be documented and actions that need to be taken. Many businesses fail without a business plan, and furthermore, banks require one prior to being considered for a loan.
Contact :
U.S Small Business Administration, Service Corps of Retired Executives
3. Determine a Business Name
The name you choose for your business is very important. If the name you choose is your own legal surname and a one-word description (such as John Smith Roofing) then you are not required to register a fictitious business name. If you choose a business name that does not meet these parameters (such as JS Expert Roofing) and your business is not registered with the state then state law requires you to file a fictitious business name statement. Please note that this statement does not protect the business name.
Please contact your local : County Clerk’s Office for more information.
4. Determine the Legal Structure of the Business
Your choice of legal structure will affect your income taxes and personal liability. Most businesses start as a Sole Proprietorship or a General Partnership and are generally the least complicated. Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Partnerships, with the Corporations and Limited Liability Companies must register Secretary of State. You are strongly advised to contact your own accountant or attorney for advice and assistance in determining the best legal structure for you and your business.
Please contact: IRS’S Technical Services Division
(800) 829-1040 website: www.irs.treas.gov
5. Determine the Business Activity Type
There is a classification system for business activity types in which identifies a business
activity and determines many of the start-up requirements and where the business can be located. For more information on business activity type contact:
City Treasurer’s Office
6. Select a Site and Determine Zoning and Site Permit Requirements
Determining zoning requirements prior to signing a lease or contract is imperative. You must check with the City to see if the type of business you plan to operate is legal in the desired location. You can usually receive same day information on the status of your location if you have the proposed business address and a description of the business when you contact:
City’s Development Services Department
If operating from home, you must follow the requirements for Home Occupations. You can obtain this information by contacting:
Neighborhood Code Compliance
7. Obtain Any Special Licenses and Permits
The business activity type chosen determines the licenses and permits needed to operate a business legally. For a list of more than 200 regulated Occupations and Professional Services, contact:
State Department of Consumer Affairs
(800) 952-5210 website: www.dca.ca.gov
For the list of Police Regulated Business contact:
Police Licensing Division
Businesses selling tangible personal property in your state you must apply for
Seller’s Permit/Resale Number.
Contact:
State Board of Equalization -website: www.boe.gov
Businesses engaged in selling goods by weight or volume must register the devices with the County Agriculture, Weights and Measures Office. Permits must usually be obtained by: import/export businesses, agricultural-related production, and businesses using pesticides. Contact your local :
County - Agricultural, Weights and Measures Department
Business engaged in: selling or handling food products, operating a pool or spa, handling hazardous materials, underground storage tanks, medical wastes, x-ray equipment, or waste handling must contact the Department of Environmental Health at the County.
8. Get Tax Information
Several types of taxes may be levied on businesses including income tax, employment tax and the City’s Business Tax. For City tax information contact:
City Treasurer’s Office
For federal tax information and a copy of the “Small Business Resource Guide” an invaluable tool to help business owners understand the basics contact:
Internal Revenue Service (800) 829-1040 website: www.irs.treas.gov
9. Employer Responsibilities
A whole new set of responsibilities arises when a business hires employees. Employers must register as an employer and obtain a federal Employer Identification Number (EIN), pay additional taxes, withhold, match and submit employee withholdings, must obtain worker’s compensation insurance and adhere to employee eligibility regulations.
The EIN, also known as a Federal Tax Identification Number, is a nine-digit number that the IRS assigns to business entities. The IRS uses this number to identify taxpayers that are required to file various business tax returns. EINs are used by employers, sole proprietors, corporations, partnerships, non-profit organizations, trusts and estates, government agencies, certain individuals and other business entities. Federal Employer ID numbers can be obtained by completing form SS-4 on-line or calling:

If you build it they will come. Why not use your available space for a business that will bring new interest in your area? Consider hosting a town amusement park or building a fun house that you charge admission to or a huge seasonal or annual yard sale by partnering with other townspeople and businesses. Use your avaiable yard to plant flowers or vegetables or spices or nut trees that you can sell. Think about an online kind of business. Whatever you do make sure it's legal. Talk to your City Hall about zoning laws if you go with something relating to your property. The most important thing to consider is that when you fill a need you have a better chance to fill your wallet. |

Wow you certainly are on your own, but I hope that you do know other people in the USA, so here is a possibility for you,
if you wish to create an income from home. The biggest advantages are working hours that you can set to suit yourself, the opportunity to leverage time through the efforts of others, and significant tax advantages.
There are hundreds of possible businesses, but a business requires some capital to start up so I would recommend looking for one that requires less than $500 to start, but remember it is your business and it will only be successful if you are prepared to put some amount of continuous effort into it. It will take some time to build and get an income flowing, so I would study all opportunities very closely and see if your choice has any bonus schemes which can act as cash flow as the main income stream grows.
With most businesses it will take 2-4 weeks before the first income may be received, but that is normal, in fact most home based jobs will only pay monthly. But with a business the income should increase quickly as the weeks progress, in fact it is possible to be earning a significant extra income within 6 months and be financially free in 2-4 years.
Some 9 years ago I got involved with a company in the second largest industry in the world – Telecommunications. What impressed me with this company was the attitude of the owners, they were already in a position where they could have retired, but they decided that they had a company that could grow and help very many people throughout the world to realise their financial dreams.
This company now operates in 19 countries on 3 continents and expects to be opening up another 50 countries over the next few years. They have been featured in many publications like USA Today, Success from Home Magazine (twice), Fortune, and Inc 500 rated then the 22nd fastest growing company in the USA after their first 5 years, not only that but the 2nd most profitable.
Recently the multi-billionaire Donald Trump endorsed the opportunity, calling it probably the best available in the world today.
The services the company offers are local and long distance calling, Internet, Digital, Voip with video phones, Satellite TV and cell phone services with all the major cell phone providers. Now everybody knows plenty of other people who use these services in their homes every day, and this opportunity allows you to save people money on these services, but at the same time it allows you to earn a percentage of the monthly billing of all the people, who are saving money on the services you recommended, now you have created a residual based income, you get paid every month for as long as the customer continues to use the service. This can be a very profitable business as the industry turns over approximately one Trillion dollars annually.
Now just a little bit of information about myself, I am nearly 62 and spent most of my working life in traditional manufacturing companies at Director level, so I know a bit about business. What I have discovered in the last few years, I wish I had known about when I left college. It has taken me over 30 years to discover a business that I can honestly recommend to anybody, although they will have to have drive and determination to succeed.
If you would like any more information feel free to email me.
