There are many ways, really. One of the simples ways is to sell other people's stuff or promote their business as an affiliate, such that of these companies:

Another way. You could buy products cheaply wholesale and advertise them for sale on any of the above websites and others.

I personally believe and do this myself, pay for hosting and start installing some sites and altering scripts and for you it should be quite easy to get to grips with databases and scripts, I do it with no computer skills so you will excel at it with you knowledge of computers.
I find it really absorbing work and enjoy messing about with them and of course ideas come to you on how you can make money from a site or how you can alter it to what would suit you own business ideas, sign up with google adsense and put ads on the sites, I do and already I'm earning from my ads.
I have a forum at the min that I'm working on I'm surprised myself how much ads can bring you in also I'm working on a auction site but with a twist, so that's what I would suggest sign up with a good hosting company, there are plenty that offer free sign up but I prefer to pay I get more sites to install and it's not expensive. Hope this helps. |

You have a good skill set to start. You wouldn't believe the number of people who are scared of the computer but want to have a home based business. I use the internet to market my business. I am an Equipment Leasing Broker. It is my job to find people who want to finance new equipment and put them together with people who want to lend money. Since the banks are in terrible shape, my business is better than ever. Think about the contacts you have in the IT world, and who may need new equipment, it could just work for you too!
