Julian23 | I'd like to open a business one day but I don't know what?!? |
I'm in Michigan, the area around Detroit, I need a small business that can be on the cheap side to open, enjoyable, not toooo long hours, and brings in enough income over time that I can live nicely. I want one that I can run myself, maybe hire one employee. My interest was maybe a T-mobile, Cingular, or Verizon store. You know like a cell phone place. I have a buddy that owns one and he lives pretty good, he also runs it by himself with no trouble.......I need an answer please! HELP! |

I'm always kind of amazed at how many cell phone stores there are - especially the independent ones. The fact that there are so many probably means that the market hasn't been saturated, but that trend may not necessarily continue. Over the past few years, there's been a trend towards some of the bigger providers merging. When that happens, I think some of the economies that support dealers will start to evaporate. Consumers are expecting more transparency in their service plans, too. It may become easier for us to pick mobile services we're happy with over the long-term.
For example, I'm more likely to track services and order equipment online than I would've been two or three years ago.
All that being said, if the the start-up charges for the business are within your reach and you are adaptable enough to keep your options open for morphing the business into something else if the market for cell phones collapses, it may be worth considering. I'd do a LOT of research on profitability, join a small-business group in your area, get to know the rental and leasing market so that you don't wind up being run out of business by a greedy landlord who raises your rent as soon as you've achieved some success in your location. Make sure that you are prepared for all of the hidden costs of running a business: security, accounting and bookkeeping outlays, self-employment taxes, payroll taxes, advertising, insurance and indemnification, legal fees, permits, incorporation costs, and the like.
You also need to keep in mind that no employee will ever be as motivated as you are for the business to succeed. You will always only get what you pay for. The best thing to do is to pay well above what your competitors are paying their employees, and give as many benefits as possible.
Good luck. |

What do you like to do? What do you do for fun? This will help you decide what kind of small business you want to run. There are a lot of decisions when you want to go into a small business but they can be very rewarding. I have my own small business as well and so does my mom. If you need any suggestions or want to talk about starting one up sometime you can visit my site, email or call sometime.

See if chic-fil-a will be franchising in your area, those stores make a killing, you just wouldnt believe, in fact a lot of fast food does very well.
Mail places do well too. Of course, do your market research and find where in town your business would be needed, etc. |

They offer a good step-by-step to owning your own home-based business. In fact you can even sell whatever you want using their guidelines. They also show you how you can receive payments online. So it's kinda Virtual Vending Machine! Hehehe... |

i am making pretty decent money designs t shirts and selling them on cafepress - it is only $7 a month to open a store and there are people making well over $50k a year on there!! all you do is make the designs then upload them, pick what products you want them on, set the mark up, and advertise - when someone wants to buy cafepress handles the transaction, prints, ships and then mails you a commission check monthly!!
if your interested in seeing what a store looks like check out my shop www.shopaholicchick.com if you like what you see my email is on there i can help you get set up and get going!!! |
