Maybe start something like buying and selling on Ebay. You could go to car boot sales and buy things, they sell them on Ebay for more. Load of people are earning their full living on Ebay now, try it.

Go for the internet business, which requires less of your time and the one that will not make you feel headache with web designing, or which require IT knowledge. Second, choose the internet based company which offer you the opportunity and at the same time giving you the convenience to start the business. Third, choose the business, which does not require big money to start it.

I think you should do a small bakery shop. The best way is to introduce at least one special item and it'll be a hit.Don't forget drinks too.

Pizza restaurants qualify for government grants most easily... I don't know why someone just told me that...

Start by thinking of something you like, know a fair amount about and find interesting. Do you have any hobbies? You could set up a small mail order shop selling stuff to do with your hobby.

You can set up an Ebay shop to start with, that will provide the infrastructure to set up your business for you.

If you have a useful skill you could provide a service rather than selling something. You could learn a new skill at college, if there was something you were interested in.

There may also be business start up courses you can do, to teach you about accounts, cash flow, customer services, tax, basic law etc.

Be really careful of 'business opportunities' like online ebook or gadget shops, they are all scams. As are the work from home ads you see on posters. Anyone with a successful business idea that works won't want to sell that idea to all and sundry. Unless the successful business idea is selling their idea! If they claim it's a great deal and you can make millions by just signing up, along with photos of all their happy customers, well you can make millions for them, but not for yourself.

Since you have not mentioned your amount to be put into business no meaningful suggestion can be made.

I'm all for brainstorming but difficult to really help with no info. I guess there are some real restrictions (investment money, what your current commitments are, where you live etc etc).

But a good guide is to ask these questions:
- what are you good at?
- what do you enjoy doing?
- what experience/expertise can you bring (this isnt necesarily "professional" skills - so being a mum can mean you have good communications skills, are nurturing, maybe consier life-style coaching etc).

Ask another question after you've considered thse and i will try and provide more "practical" help.

Nobody can answer that for you because we don't know anything about you. It's all well and good for someone to tell you to start a bakery, hair salon, beauty parlour, etc., but if you haven't got any skills in those areas you are destined to fail.
Make a list of things that you are good at and take it from there. When venturing into business you should have a degree of passion for your chosen field for it to be successful.
