The person who said the paper route idea that doesn't work because at this day and age company hires adults that uses cars for faster delivery. The labor laws differ for each state. When your 13 most of your money can mainly come from your parents from allowance, chores, and other things. You can do a babysitting job. It will be hard to advertise. Probably you can only babysit friends and family. The only job you can get legally at a company is at a garden like watering them and rearanging the small plants. Any animal or farmwork is the only legal job you can do. However, wait one more year (at least in certain states) you can get multiple jobs. You can work at a library, cashier or any job that doesn't really require knowledge and don't require to much work and the possibilty of getting hurt is low.. By 16 you can do most jobs and by 18 you can do all jobs. However, even when 14 many people wouldn't want to hire someone young. So it's going to be hard. This doesn't work well but is legal is that you can start a lemonade stand or a juice stand. I saw some kids who did it on a very busy street and lots of people were buying. If you want tot do this have good drinks and signs and on a busy rode. Make sure the price is like 25-50 cents a cup. So that's basically all the jobs you can go. Oh and you can become an actor or commercial actor or in any sports that have a prize money. You can also work in a family business if your family has one. Good luck! |

You can babysit, mow the lawn, wash cars, walk dogs, or you could also go to your local resturaunts and see if they need anyone to help clean up, wash dishes ect. |

when i was a kid of 13 I used to collect recyclables, Aluminum, Copper, Brass,. Even newspapers can be recycled for money.
I got pretty good at Identifying different metals and finding ways to store my "goods" until i had enough to take in..then I asked my mom to drive me down and cash it in. funny thing is the fundamentals of finding ways to make money before i was legally allowed to get a job has helped me in my business. |

Some ideas and some of them are limited to your location and physical capabilities.
Farm Work, such as Hauling Hay, cutting thistles, General Farm Labor. In Rural areas, some farmers are happy to have an extra hand around, Stop and ask, the worst they will do is say No.
Ask the local newspaper about paper routes you can work.
If you have access to a lawnmower (and possibly weedeater) try starting a Lawnmowing Business. Perhaps an average pay of $30 per yard, with $10 in expenses (gas). 1 yard averages an hour to mow. Thats $40 profit a day for approximately 3 hours of work (extra hour for travel etc.)
Maybe a local construction company has an opening for general labor. When I was about 13-14, I worked general labor for a Masonry company. Basically hauled bricks and Mortar to the masons as they were laying Brick. try Lumberyards possibly.
Also ask your relatives, friends, neighbors for odd jobs they might need help with. Key is to be proactive, show iniative and dont wait for work to fall into your lap. Get out and ask around, ask people, call up leads, follow them up, ask your parents to give you a ride around to any interviews or to locations where you want to ask if they need help. |

It depends on where you live, I suppose. If you live in a more populous area, you could try babysitting or walking dogs. If you live in a more rural area, try mowing lawns or shoveling snow. You could also get involved in something more creative, such as writing, photography, or painting, and then try to sell your work. Use your imagination. |
