If you enjoy working but you're not sure if you're too old to be there, either go part-time or look for other work which is less physically demanding.
Or, if you want to retire, then do so. But to be honest, I think I might only retire if I had a particular project that I wanted to work on, or plans for my spare time. Maybe you want to travel, or to take on volunteer work.
The reason why I say this is because I only know two people in their 70s, my grandmother and my neighbour. My grandmother is now completely physically incapable of walking further than a couple of metres, and I believe that this did not happen naturally but because after retiring she did nothing but sit and watch TV. My neighbour is a lovely man but spends every waking minute of every day in the pub, drinking pints of lager from 9:00am onwards. I guess you could say, at least he's getting out and doing something and talking to people. But that can't be much of a life either. |

If you're happy - carry on.
When those bones start to creak loudly, why not become an online consultant giving your wealth of experience to others.
I know a guy who started a Help Newsgroup on laying paths and garden design after an accident prevented him from physically working. He gets a lot of enjoyment from helping others and has build a massive group of members.
Good luck from a young 57 year old SEO Consultant. |

You can go for as long as you want but if you are starting to feel old I would strongly advise against it |

You're an inspiration, but only you can decide whether you want to retire or not. |

I worked for a firm where our oldest employee was doing a three day week at the age of 92 , while he was not particularly fast his experience was invaluable , saving other workers time |

What else would you do with your time? If you still enjoy working, you don't have to retire unless there is a physical reason. Maybe you should cut back a little, but you should do what you enjoy.
Good Luck! |
