I'm having a tough time right now and I need "work at home" ideas?

I am divorcing my abusive husband and I have a 5 month old baby son. I don't have a job or a car and I'm living with my sister and her husband. I'm trying really hard to get back on my feet but I don't have much money. Does anyone know of a good paying job I can do right from home? I see a lot of "work at home" offers online, but they look like scams. My baby son needs me and I need to start re-building my life for him and I. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm so sorry to hear this. How old is your son? I don't mean to step on your toes, but if your husband was abusive, you may need to seak some counseling. You should also contact social services and get onto their programs. They can help with cash aid assistance, food, Medical. Their is also the wick program etc.
Working from home is a great opportunity. My husband and I have working from home for the past six years. Although, you won't find a "home job" that will pay you a sufficient amount of income. You will be lucky to make minimum wage. With a child (although he's only 5 months now, but he will get older each year) You need to start thinking about your child's future. Things he's going to need, schooling, clothing, toys etc.
I don't think a minimum waged home job is going to support you, you'll end up having to stay at your sister's house for probably ever. With the cost of housing, utilities, food, toiletries etc, a home job will not cut these costs. If I were you, I would look into starting your own home based business.
There are so many different home based business to start up. Things from Child Daycare Centers, cooking, scrapbooking, Telecommunications, Candle Making, Travel agents, Tax Preperations, Health etc etc etc. You can turn just about any type of business into a business that you run out of your home. Their are many different types of home based businesses. Most home based business cost under $500 to start.
I'm going to be honest with you like I am with everyone else, when starting a business, there is no money at first. You have to build it up. No matter what business you get involved in. The more effort you put into it and how hard your willing to work it, will depend on when you start making a sufficient amount of income. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it.
In home based businesses, depending on which one you get involved in, it usually takes about 2 to 4 weeks to start making an average income. Which is the same time frame as a normal payroll job, and 4 to 6 weeks to increase that.
and 3 to 6 months to be self sufficient. If you put the time and effort into it. Most people start their business on the side if they don't have a cushion to live on while they build their business. This will allow you to build your business much quicker. But most people have full time jobs and run their business on the side. When their business reaches the income level they desire, they put their normal jobs down and continue with just their business with or without help. That part depends on you.
I don't have much to go on with what your interests are. So I can only try and help you out by refering you over to a few different businesses to take a look at. "Work at home" stuff are scams. The same ones have been going on for decades and still people fall for them.

You neglect to mention your education, training, skills, experience, etc. What kind of work did you do before having the baby? You can make "good" money with a home-based biz if you are an accountant, graphic designer, website designer/webmaster, editor, etc. with a degree, experience and credentials. You must have references and portfolio of your work to show prospective clients, and you need to be able to deliver on schedule.

You also need to project a very professional demeanor in any home-based biz - NO babies screaming in the background while you are on the phone!

Your husband has to pay child support, and if he wanted to quit work to have the baby, he needs to pay alimony until you can return to work. I hope you hired a good attorney!
