Where I work, we tried all sorts to improve efficiency. We set targets in conjuction with the union, (which were lower than the original targets!) and informed everyone we needed to meet them. We then tried peruasion, but that only worked in one or two cases. In the end we had to resort to disciplinary action to get people to improve. |

Everyone operates differently....you need to find out what motivates each employee....perhaps they all want different things.... If you are really struggling for ideas....talk to them....I have found in my experience that if you value your employees, you keep an open dialogue with them....they will ultimately tell you what will make things better, faster and smoother.....you gotta ask them...Do something spur of the moment at a staff meeting.....hand out some small "cash cows" for some ideas.... |

try a spontanious lunch for the best employees, then announce its a regular thing. the problem with quarterly bonuses is that they seem a long way off and $150 aint that generous...perhaps a staggered bonus may work, say $100 at 80% then $250 at 100% then perhaps $500 at 150%?
normally a monthly meal and piss up works, something that can be worked towards each month instead of a last minute scramble at the end of the third month....just a few ideas....hope they help. |

Sometimes rather than focusing on the long term quarterly bonus, it helps to keep them motivated by utilizing, daily or weekly contests for production. That way you can use things such as an American Express gift card for amounts like $25.00 daily or weekly for those who reach a certain goal first. If you do this on a smaller time table, rather than just quarterly they do not loose interest, or sight of the prize. |

Why not thats a great incentive! Or is the goal feasible or are u asking to much. I have no info on the company, so I dont know what u do. Or do u have some poor employees who should be fired, even 1 can damage the moral of a team if they r negative it seems to rub off on all the others. If so fire the bad apple or apples only positivity breeds success, and monatary rewards r great we all need extra income, but also how about a little competion incentive, we humans r competitive by nature, such as best employee gets extra 30 min. lunch you could do this on a bi-weekly basis and believe me u will see how competitive they will be, which in turn snowballs into great productivity! |

Truthfully, if you want production to run smoother and faster, why not ask the employees for their input? I'm sure many of them have ideas on how to accomplish this goal. Also, perhaps instead of just a quarterly incentive, offer a weekly incentive. Two hours early dismissal with pay, a $25 gas card, something. Keep your employees in the loop, though. Oftentimes, the low man on the totem pole has better ideas on how to make his job easier and more effective than strangers. |

We give out a lot of incentives in our company. It all depends on the size of your company and how much you're willing to spend. We have given out small and big gifts. To mention a few small ones, we've given out IPODS, American Express gift certificates, weekend stay at a nearby (NICE) hotel, dinner for two at a restaurant and a paid day off. And a few bigs have been; laptops, Trip to Hawaii, $1000 shopping spree.
Keep it different and don't necessarily announce what the bonus is going to be. Keep them guessing. That always keeps the interest. Good luck! |
