The best & worst thing about AVON is you are truly in charge of your own business. Only you will determine your worth & your paycheck so you can truly make a very lucrative income, on the other hand, no one will be there behind you telling you, you have to work so many hours or do certain tasks to acheive your goals. You need to be self motivated & driven to succeed. You can earn an extra $100 a week or $1500, it is all up to how much time you are willing to devote to your business to cultivate clients & sales.
When you join as an AVON rep you are paid solely on commission according to the amount of product you sell every 2 weeks. When you start, you are guaranteed 50% commission on your sales (all core products, 20% on AVON giftables, apparrel, & some jewelry) for the first 2 months as long as you place your order online.
After this time you earn 20% minimum with a $25 order, & up to 50% with a $1550 order, or anywhere in between 30%, 40%, 45%. You are given an intial credit limit, so when you place your first order, you do not have to pay up front, rather it is shipped to you on that credit.
You then deliver the orders, collect the money, & at this point you have your money (earnings) in hand & the money you owe AVON for the products you have received. You pay AVON the amount they invoice you, (they break down the earnings percentage for you), the amount you have left is your earnings.
There are NO quotas, NO minimums ever. If you decide the AVON opportunity is not right for you at anytime, as long as your account balance is paid to a zero balance, your account automatically closes once you have not placed an order for 4-6 weeks.
There IS money to be made with AVON sales & AVON leadership, which is another opportunity AVON offers; you build a downline (recruiting, helping others start their own AVON businesses) of which AVON pays you a seperate income & this is where the REAL money is at!

I am an Assistant Avon Sales and Business Development Manager, Independant Sales and Leadership Representative.
You make your own hours, and the number of hours you want to work per week. In a 2-week period, let's say you give out 100 brochures, that may take up to an hour. Answer the calls that come in from those brochures. Deliver products and collect payment. You may be looking at a total of 3-6 hours every two weeks. Assume you have a $400 order. You would have $80 and $200 profit. At 6 hours and making $80.... that's over $13 an hour. You can spend more time at it if you wish.
The least you can earn with Avon is 20% and the most for sales is 50%. However, in Avon Leadership, the income is unlimited, as you are paid bi-weekly on the SALES of your downline unit. Avon does not pay a leadership rep based on the number of contracts received. Avon pays based on the sales from those contracts. |

A friend of mine gave it a go for awhile, but it was more trouble than it was worth.... I think it takes a long time to build up a large clientele to support it enough to make it worth while.
As far as time, I think it depends on where you are going for clients. Let's say, it you were advertising in your building may be more limiting than advertissing in the store. |

If you want to try Avon don't think negative. Try first, be a Sub Dealer which you can purchase the products from the dealer in Singapore. U do not need to travel to JB yet you still earn comm & save your journey. If you think that selling Avon can make $$. You can be a dealer just register @ JB branch. Some dealer make a lot of $$ thru their contacts. I myself using Avon products. I've Avon dealer contact if you are interested.
ps: As long as you hv contacts(family, friend, neighbour, colleague), recommendation and thick skin, it is easy for you to sell Avon products.
Other than Avon, U can try Cosway, Amyway or Tupperway as they hv their own branch in Singapore. |

It is not a good idea to sell for Avon unless you want to make some spare change. Avon is an Mlm company that have been around a very long time. Because of this you WILL NOT make a lot of money with this company. If you are going to get in a Mlm business you want to make sure it is fairly recent still, I say around 1-6 years old or so. You want to get in a mlm business when there still in there beginning stage. Avon is already for years been in there stability stage for a long time. Which means you will not make a lot of money and not become a millionaire. I am in a Mlm business That is going on their 5th year. Its a great company and there is a lot of potential to make a lot of money. Anyhow I wish you success any direction you make go! |

I know several people that tried it and didn't make much but they were successful with other direct sales companies. I think you need invest too much time for the return you get.
When deciding I would think about the reasons why you are choosing a company do you believe in and use the product?
Is it consumable, and of course the return it varies form company some as low as 20% and other as high as 50% plus commission.
Research and ask lots of questions. I hear some people choose one company over another because the start up is less which makes sense but what other cost are involved and how much time for me personally time is more valuable.
bottom line you will never know until you give it a try.

All the answers are great, very informative. I made President's club last year in a small town I live in, that means 10,100 in sales.
You can make the money if you work it. But even if you don't work it so hard think about whether or not you like the products and would use or give them as gifts. It is a broad product line. Skin care, perfume, soap, movies, toys, clothing, shoes, purses, underclothes. Just the savings on personal items for me and my family, I have 3 kids, makes it work for me.

One of my representatives was selling Avon on the side hoping to supplement her income. Avon REALLY needs to update their compensation plan. Her earnings were 10% of her sales which made it not even worth the gas it took to deliver her orders. If someone returned something, she had to return it at her own expense, thus losing money. Avon always has the upper hand. Needless to say, she quit. |

Avon is a network marketing or MLM company. You would need to determine a few things to decide if it is worth it for you.
1) Look at their compensation plan
Do they require receipts prior to you being paid?
Is their breakage in their plan (do they allow you always make the same money on your personally sponsored people or can they go past you?)
Is it a binary, matrix, or break-away, etc. ? What will you be working with?
2) Look over the policies and procedures
3) Look for the 5 pillars ... two of which are the policies and procedures and the compensation plan
