Okay, as you can see, you have gotten a lot of good answers. Now you need to do your own research on each of these answers. I know an article that was written by a mom who was once in the same shoes as you. She created this article to help people (not just mom's) but in general to find something to do online as well as off line. Home jobs in essence. Also give people tools to research and be able to weed out the scams and bad sites to join. I think you will find this article pretty darn interesting as I did. Working at home is usually either about working for a normal company from home or just working for yourself. Most people work for themselves.
You should really avoid all the things like rebate processing, data entry, surveys, blogs, or mlm or paypal pyramid schemes. All of them either make you next to no money or they're a scam. The more legitimate ways of making money online are things like selling on ebay or outside of ebay or affiliate marketing or selling digital products.
It really depends how you want to get started. There's tons of ways of making money online, but you should be careful because a lot of them are scams. You should ask yourself whether or not you want to put the time and research into looking at different ways to do it or whether you want to pay for the information (*like buying a book or online program) so you can get started sooner. There's no cut and dry 1 step answer. I've been a work at home mom for 3 years and I still read about new ways to make money online.
