Do you have restaurant management experience?
If you don't you will need to complete the ServSafe Restaurant Managers course. It is a BASIC course on food safety.
Next snuggle up real close with the United States Code of Federal Regulations Title 21 sub-part 110.
This is the BARE MINIMUM requirement for any food service operation in the US.
In the real world there is a lot more to it than cracking open the beer cans and turning up the volume. |

As a former club manager always take your time BEFORE you open and scope the competition. Don't be afraid to talk to some of the customers and play stupid, ask them why they came there.
There's more to type but I'm not going to write a book. With all due respect 22 is very young to start a business as risky, and I do mean risky, as a Sports Bar.
However, I do wish you all the best. Running a club is fun but it's also very scary when you see the amount of money that has to be spent and the margins aren't as great as many people would lead you to believe.
Good luck! |

i have also thought about doing this myself. The first and most important thing to consider is the market for another bar in your area. Then location(not to close to schools,churches,etc.). There is only a certain alotment for liquor licenses also, so you need to see if one is available |

There are a lot of liability issues that you need to be aware of. Like getting caught with underage drinkers in your bar....or people drinking too much and then going out and getting in a wreck after leaving your bar. Making sure that your staff is on board with spotting fake IDs and not letting people in is important. |

location and good advertisement is extremely important .other than that you would have to hire me as the manager. |

Hope you have lots of cash. Cable of dish prices will vary by capacity. Insurance is killer, does your city have an liquor licenses open? Have you ever worked in the industry and do you really have any clue what it takes to run a bar? Go work for one for a while to start with, thats the most important thing as if you dont know the business you will get robbed blind. You have the money? Do you really have a clue how much money you are talking about? Been there and done that with the bar business..... I wouldnt go back to it unless I was worth about 15 million and was just opening it to have someplace to hang out and come off like a king. |
