That is so cool. I am twenty and also want to open my own zoo. I'll email you my general plans if you are interested. I am majoring in Zoo and Aquarium Science right now and am doing a lot of work at many different zoos. I can't really help you with your question though because I also have the same questions. All of the good locations that I can find have already been taken by other zoos. As for the money I am currently researching the cost of things such as caging, food, vet care, animal purchasing, etc. I can only suggest that you do the same. I'm sorry that I can't be much help. I doubt there are many people out there with any experience at running a private zoo so I don't think your going to get any informed opinions on this one.
If you want to know why people are laughing just go talk to 10 strangers and use the term Monkey Zoo. My guess is at least half will at least smile when the hear the term. It's just funny!

orlando.... everybody goes to universal studios and all the attractions like ripley's belive it or not museum and other things. little kids would love to go to a zoo in addition but it would be expensive as hell to get property down there. you should get some partners or just become a vet because that would be very difficult to pull that off. you should contact an owner of a succesful zoo and see what it takes. try to contact the owner of the omaha zoo in Nebraska |

I don't know if you can call it a zoo if it only has monkeys, although "The Monkey Zoo" is a funny, catchy name.
Maybe it could be more like a little petting zoo. Is it safe for people to pet/handle monkeys?
This could be a great place for children's birthday parties. I think that would be your best angle.
