If you like crafts, start making something and selling it to your friends and family. They will end up telling someone they know about it, and by word of mouth, you can grow your business. Or, if you don't want to make something or you don't have the patience or time for it, find a vendor to sell you merchandise at wholesale cost for you to sell at retail online. You could try doing direct sales. There are tons of companies out there for just about anything you enjoy. Just make sure you do your research, and check out the compensation plan (that's important!). I currently work with a naturally-based bath and body product company called Sensaria...I chose the company because it was smaller (unlike Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, etc.) and found that because it is so new I have been able to book parties a lot easier because people want something new. So take that into consideration as well. Good luck on your endeavours! |

It all depends on what you enjoy doing. You could go with suggestions mentioned or if you are more a crafts person maybe some home made cards to sell. Also it depends on the ages of your children.
If they are at school during the day how about making leaflets and advertising services (as long as it is a legal one!) You could offer to do many things from printing more leaflets to prehaps arranging parties. |

It would kind of depend on what sort of skills you have already and also whether you want to learn new skills for the purpose of your home employment.
A good idea would be to take a skill you have at the moment and capitalise on it as much as you can. Think of a way that you could take that skill and adapt it to serve a purpose.
This is a strange example to use I know but stick with me here - I've always been fairly savvy with computers so I took that skill and did some training in Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Now I am can do that from home on a part time basis if I need to and earn a tidy sum of money. It is very much a growth industry so I have been in demand fairly regularly.
This is just a far off example but I hope it helps in some way.

I started out 4 years ago with the same question and tried lots of things. I just wanted to be able to stay at home with my kids, but earn some money, too. eBay worked for me.
