I am a retailer and my supplier now refuses to sell me goods?
I am a retailer and I have been selling goods at prices heavily discounted from the RRP, on e bay undercutting my competitors. They say that I am devaluing their brand. My supplier has now said that though they cannot tell me what price to sell the goods at, they can refuse to supply me any more. Is this allowed?
Sorry they have the right to sell to whoever they like just as costumers can buy from whoever they like.
gerrifriend
yes of course, they can refuse to sell to anybody they like
Bardic
Of course they can. Normal business practice. Try to find another supplier.

Yes, they can. This is common practice. Do not take it personally. You can always find another supplier.
Good luck.

Unfortunately they are allowed to do this. They don't have to sell you their products if they don't want to. Specially if you're selling their products way below their retail list price. They are protecting other customers by doing so.

They are certainly allowed to do just as you describe. Perhaps you would do best to set up a new supplier and if your sales are as good as you state - then you should hopefully have no problem. Personally I see things in shops (not the big ones) which are undercut severly from the RRp and they have overheads which you do not if you are selling on EBAY and they are managing. For one people are putting a realistic price on goods for the benefit of the consumer...I wish you luck and would love to know what you are selling .......not that I want to open a shop, but yes I am a shopaholic for a good bargain.

"Is that allowed?" Are you new here? No one has to sell anything to you. If your a serious business person get off "answers" and get on the phone finding a new supplier.

as said of course they don't have to supply you that's there right .its the trouble years ago when the likes of Curry's and comet were over priced for electrical good they said the manufactures wouldn't let them cut the price as they wouldn't supply them .its changed now obviously since the supermarkets have started selling electrical good but different brands .
either find another supplier or another brand
peter p
i'm afraid they can,ask anybody who sells to the big four
supermarkets

I am sorry but you are all wrong. It is illegal for a supplier to refuse to sell to you under these circumstances. These actions breach price fixing legislation and a company may be fined up to 10% of its global revenue for acting in this way. The technical phrase is 'Retail Price Maintenance' (RPM).
