I am about to start a gift wrapping business, do you think people would be interested? Also offer gift baskets
I wanted to know if the gift wrapping is something people would be interested in. I thought about reasonable prices like 1 to 5 dollars depending on size. Please tell me what you think. Thanks so much.

Maybe if you sold gifts and cards as well.

I'd think it'd be a very seasonal business.
You wouldn't get filthy rich with it, but you could get some money during the Thanksgiving/Xmas period. Othrwise, during the rest of the year, I see a very low demand and, perhaps not what you want to hear, it will not work.
Also, in many malls (at least in the uk) you can have gifts wrapped for free provided you bought the item in that mall.

It sounds like a good idea to me,,most people hate wraping gifts Good Luck..

I agree on location and convenience even if you had your own shop instead of working at home I still don't see why people would leave their shopping areas to bring their gifts to you to wrap for them. Many locations offer giftwrapping on site but it can be exspensive, but even for a cheaper price it seems less convenient to go out of your way just to get your gift wrapped when you could do it yourself. But I do like the idea of the location being one of those booth islands in the mall.

Now the giftbaskets sounds like a great idea you could do that year round birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc. Plus location is not needed if you have your merchandise available for browsing on the web then shipping and handling speaks for itself!

Location Location Location is always important when starting a themed/ precise business.

You want to make your self visible and give people a familiarity with your business. Have you started printing flyers for what's to come. What kind of wrapping paper do you have in mind? WIll it be fancy, artsy, recycled? Will you wrapping the gifts in a clever format?

It's a great idea and if you are willing to do a little more research in your neighborhood.

you must consider that time and convenience are of the essence for most shoppers. what are the logistics? will they have to bring the gift to your house and wait for you to wrap it or come back? or can you get closer to the point of sale? what kind of stock of paper do you have? i think people need this service, but it usually happens at the store where they buy the item.

Location Location Location. This would be a great job at the mall and the like in one of thoes Island shops in the mall. However you should have an angle to make your gift wrapping business unique. Like unique wrapping materials or things from exotic places.

I think that would be a great idea especially for the holidays.

People would love it...especially the last minute shoppers for any holiday/special occasion. Gift baskets are a great idea also. I don't know where you're located, but if you plan to possibly expand after your business takes off--think positively--you'd better raise your prices a little to make a profit. Good luck to you!

Personally, I love wrapping gifts, as much as I like to shop for them and give them. But yes, so many people hate wrapping gifts and would def pay for it. They usually have booths set up at the malls this time of year with gift wrappers, and department stores usually have gift wrapping in the customer service department, so people definitely pay to have gifts wrapped. It's more of a seasonal business though.

oh, so this was related to your other question. yeah, the gift baskets would be nice for Christmas - quite convenient. try to get a corporate client - someone who's planning to give out hundreds or thousands of baskets to their clients. you can also get your items cheaper because you're buying wholesale.
good luck. don't forget me when you'e rich.
