If I were you, and I've done this. I would start a home based business. They are easier to run, they don't have all the over head that traditional businesses have. They don't cost the amount of money that the traditional ones do either. Most home based businesses cost under $500. Since you don't have any business experience, I'd pick a business that has a program where you learn the trade you chose as you start and build your business up. A lot of companies offer these trainings. I suggest you take full advantage. The second thing you want to do , is chose a business that you will like doing! For instance, if you don't like make up, then don't sale make up. Find something else instead. Understand that in starting a business you will not make any income right away. Some businesses you can (when you partner up with another) but in most cases your not going to make a sufficient amount of income right away. But once you start to build it, the income can be incredible. As long as you invest the time and effort into making it successful. IT's hard work in the beginning, but well worth it in the end.
What type of business are you looking into doing? What is the product your wanting to sale? This is something you need to figure out first. You can't start a business if you don't have an idea what product or service your going to offer people.
I created a blog on home based businesses on my 360 page. Your more then welcome to take a look at it to get a few ideas of different businesses and where to go to start one up. Most can be done anywhere even in Cincinnati.
Good Luck!

Starting your own business can be very overwhelming and a lot of the time frustrating. Here are steps you can do:
Step 1: go to your local government office to apply for a business permit. Think of atleast 3 names of your business as they will do a check to see if it is available. Ask questions about collecting and submitting taxes, local, state, etc. It's really not that difficult.
Step 2: Sign up with World Wide Brands, they are the largest directory of wholesalers, dropshippers, liquidators, light bulk wholesalers etc. Upon research you'll find they are the only true wholesale directory on the internet.
Step 3: Upon sign up you can decide whether you want to get into dropshipping, light bulk wholesalers etc. or the whole package.
Step 4: With World Wide Brands it is a lifetime membership. Search category, suppliers and/or products. Sign up with a company you like to do business with, it's that easy.
World Wide Brands has useful information, videos and tips to starting your business right.
Good luck in building your own business. |

1. go to Ohio state website for info on how to do business regarding license, permits, fictional names, etc. ALso check Cincinatti website and/or local HRS office for local requirements.
2. Check out EBAY's on-line school (free) for instructions on how to do business there.
3. You will have to get SOME idea of what you want to do. Try to do something you are experienced with - ie you will fail pretty fast as a plumber if you aren't already one. Consignment clothes if you are a clothes horse, sandwich shop if you love to cook, etc etc
4. Live the AMerican dream baby! |

1. Contact your local Small Business Administration- Here is Texas I did so to start a business. They had a packet of information which outlines all of the local, state and federal requirements you have for starting a business.
2. Find out if there is a trade show for the type of business you want to open. Go to this before you open if possible. You will find contacts in the industry, wholeslaers and information on computer systems specific to your area and a lot of trade shows have training classes.
3. Contact local Chamber of Commerce as they may have helpful information or at least you may make contacts to help in your endeavor.
4. Find out if there are any trade associations for the area you are in. These are groups of people who work together in that area.
Good Luck! |

Why not think about a franchise or a home business? That way all the details are taken care of, plus you get great support with minimal start-up costs.
Check out my YouTube video for my experiences (good and bad) with various home businesses. http://youtube.com/watch?v=i5ZMgycKRPQ |

The best answer is to take your time. Starting your own business can be overwhelming if you do not make a plan.
Here is a very good article on buying wholesale.
http://www.janesdeals.com/wholesale_industry.asp
My recommendation is to be very cautious when buying anything online. You should never buy from someone who doesn't have a proper license. There are many scammers online who are waiting for newbies like you to pounce on.
Here is another shocking article:
http://www.janesdeals.com/wholesalerforums.asp
Watch this movie:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euuQy9hCYac
There are some good companies online (here is one:
http://www.wholesaledir.com/) but you should still use an escrow company. What if you send 1000.00 and the wholesale supplier sends you a shortage? What if you never receive the goods? What if it gets held in customs. How do you get your money back? What if you receive the wrong colors or sizes? What are you going to do?
I suggest that you visit a wholesale show prior to making orders online so you can learn the trade before you blindly start sending money out on the internet.
Dropship lists are 99% worthless.
http://www.janesdeals.com is the only wholesale auction online that will offer you protection from shortages and other scams. They hold the funds until delivery and inspection to ensure you receive the shipment. You can inspect the goods in person and send them back if they are not as advertised.
You still should make your business plan first. There are alot of people online selling and you need to find something unique to sell.
Good luck! |

Check out this SBA website for free courses in business start up - these will be able to give some answers - then you'll need to contact your local city/state authorities for specifics in starting a business in your own state. Many times they'll have a package of information for potential business owners concerning start ups. In some places, the utility companies have similar packages of business start up information available too. |
