I recently became a consultant for Scentsy. We sell wickless candles. Instead of a flame, the highly scented wax is melted by a 25watt light bulb in a decorative warmer. Currently, there are 45 warmers and over 80 scents to choose from! We also offer room sprays and car candles in all of the scents. The stuff smells SO good. When I turn on my warmer in my dining room, I can sometimes smell it all the way upstairs!! The wax is only warmed, not burned, so there is no soot. It only heats up to just above body temperature, so you can stick your finger in it and it won't burn you. Of course, using a light bulb is also much safer than a lit candle. It is a great alternative to candles, especially if you have kids or tend to accidentally leave candles burning.
Scentsy a young company (started in 2003) and are growing REALLY fast. Like you, I was trying to find something and spent a fair share on the internet researching. A friend of mine called me up and invited me to a Scentsy party. I had never heard of them so I hopped online to see what it was. I was SO excited by what I saw! I did a search on the internet to find out more. It seemed customers and consultants alike were really excited about their products. Soooo, I decided that I would give it a try provided I liked their stuff in person as much as I did online. I went to my friend's party and signed up that night!
I feel like I got in at a good time, while the company is still fairly young and growing fast. Some states don't have a lot of consultants, yet, and it would be a great time to get in. The person I signed under was the first in the area and has done REALLY well because of that. (If you want to email me with your state, I can look up how many are in your state.)
So far, my experience is that all my customers are REALLY excited about this product. It is not a hard sell. Most people love making their house smell good, so it appeals to a wide range of people.
One good thing is the wax is consumable. People will need refills so they will come back to you for more. I also have lots of people coming back to buy them as gifts for family members. I have been to more than my share of home parties, and more people seem to buy Scentsy as gifts than any other home party I have been to.
My advice to you is to find a product you really love. Obviously, I am excited about Scentsy so it makes it so much easier to sell. I think you have to be enthusiastic about your product to do well with in home party type companies.
