twopeas03 | I am looking to supplement my income possibly selling Mary Kay or something similar....? |
I want to supplement my income, but I do not want to waste my time, which is precious. I have 3 kids and work full time. I have a friend trying to get me to sell Mary kay with her, but if there is something out there that I can make more money doing, I'm all ears. I am not a big sales person, I am not pushy and refuse to have to do any marketing other than word of mouth, and product reputation. I am also not limited to any particular product type, i.e. skin care/make-up.
I am also not looking for solicitations. DO NOT TRY TO RECRUIT ME! I want an honest opinion of products, organizations, and profits so that I can decide what company I would like to work with. Thanks!!! |

This summer, I did a LOT of research on Avon, Arbonne and Mary Kay. I also am a working mom and wanted something to add extra income. After talking to a lot of people an ddoing a lot of research, I decided Mary Kay was right for me. It is a product that has been around forever and is home-grown in the U.S. It's a really easy business, and because everyone has heard about it, I have a lot of people come to me for product before I say anything. I do have business cards and catelogs that I give people that are friendly with me and I have a website, but that is really all I do for product marketing.
Has your friend told you about Mary Kay's buy-back guarantee? If you decide within your first year that it isn't for you, then you sell everything back to Mary Kay for 90% of what you paid. BUT, if you received free product from the company as a bonus, etc. you can sell that back too!
You are smart for not wanting to be pushy... that really turns people off and doesn't benefit your business.
I hope you get some good info here - I think you are smart for doing research! |

Why not take a look at a home based business recently endorsed by the billionaire Donald Trump for its ethics, honesty and integrity. It does not involve sales and relies on word of mouth recommendation. If you would like an overview take a look at this web site www.iolair.acnrep.com, if you like what you see then you can get further information through the site. |

Well depending how motivated you are you could do what i started doing a few months ago you can join smc. Im sure you have seen the commercials. They come on channel 50 every night around 3am. They give you magizines like avon but you only pay them a small portion of the profit. Or course its not free to join, if money is tight just do like i did and get on the payment plan. you can go to smcorp.com . I enjoy selling there products. |

Even though I've sold the make up too and lost alot of money and time, you can see my profile to understand I will never stock or deliver ever again. I did the avon thing and I still have it coming out my ears. Good Luck! |

i have been doing mary kay for about 4 years now VERY part time. i've enjoyed it and have been able to make a little money--remember VERY part time. i have decided to work my business more and have been able to make more money with it. the great thinkg about mary kay is that you can work it any way you choose. word of mouth and product quality is how mk has promted itself for years. if you have a solid customer base to start from(maye 5-10 women), get them to recommend it to their friends and you could have a great business start without having to go out and meet strangers and be pushy. the one thing to keep in mind is that some directors want you to start off with a big inventory and some won't recruit you unless you do. don't start with more stuff then you need and don't get pressured into getting more than you are comfortable with. i know my director isn't pushy that way, but i have heard of some that are. good luck in whatever you decide to do! |

I actually sell Mary Kay.. I'm not into selling either, so its very hard for me. Luckily, if you can get used to talking to people, the products practically sell themselves.. :) I've tried pretty much everything.. If you are going to sell something, you need to be good at it.. Or at least want to give it everything you have.. If you don't use it.. then I would recommend not selling it.. If your prospective customers don't see you using it, it won't be a reason for them to use it. Also, you need to see what you are getting into before you do it yourself. I've sold everything from Avon, to Mary Kay to Close to my Heart, sheesh.. I've sold everything. Although the products were good, I didn't give it my full heart because selling just wasn't my thing, so they didn't sell well, and I ended up wasting a lot of money.. Also, since you have a family and small children at home, these businesses are good for you, because you can do it from home, and make your own hours.. :)
Good Luck! |
