Yes, there are work from home things to do that are not scams. Despite some things you read that others have wrote. I know a fact of several different people who have jobs or businesses and all work from home and have been for several years now. So there are legitimate places.
There are two ways that you can work from home. One is apply for a position from a company that offers home based work. There are a few out there. The second would be to start a home based business Now, there are two different ways right there to work from home. Each way I stated has different income ranges. I don't know how much income you need, so let me break it down between the two. Now, a home based job the income is about minimum wage. After taxes are taken out, your looking at take home being less then minimum wage. Now, a home based business gives you the same income opportunity as a traditional business without all the over head expenses. They cost less to start up. In fact, most home based businesses cost under $500. But the income opportunity for yourself is far greater then a home based job, but they do take a little bit of time to build.
If a home based job is sufficient amount of income for you, then there area couple options. Here's an article that talks about home based jobs, with a couple companies that you can look into. If you qualify for the position then apply for that position.

If you think that you will need to be making more then a minimum waged job, then here's another article on home based businesses with several different industries to take a look at

"If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate."

There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.

If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as 'Best'.

The work from home jobs that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ).

Time & effort required - but do your own research on what is best for you, don't take the advice of myself and others as gospel from this type of public website.

I have other ideas that may help - one of them is an online opportunity but another is one that will require a little effort to market yourself - try some data entry for local businesses, many of them don't have the time to do it in-house and will gladly pay someone else to do it. Professionals are a good place to start, lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, etc - they need their "in-house" folks doing other things rather than busy work.

You can find real work at home jobs at Virtual Job Connection.

I looked into this and it's really really hard to find places that aren't scams. Try craigsilst. they usually have a lot of that. Just remember if they ask you to pay. It's a complete scam. Good luck!

Look for work from home forums/message boards. Check out the companies represented there. Ask questions. Google the company names and look at websites of people that work from home.
