Third world countries have a large population who are below poverty line. So you should look for business opportunities that cater to that segment. One industry that is rising today is microfinance -- it loans to the poor a very small amount of money without the need for collateral, and there are easy payment terms. The inventor of microfinance has recently won a Nobel Peace price because of this idea.
One other option is to set up an office or factory in a third world country to hire its workers (they have lower labor rates in countries such as these) but you cater to customers in a first world country. Your production center will be in the third world country then you export your products to first world countries. This way, you sell at a higher price to first-world customers while lowering labor costs since you hire workers from third world countries. |

Why not start one at home first? If you haven't started a business before, doing so in a foreign country will only complicate matters and increase the chances of failure. |

Food, or Running water, but keep in mind all the hassles that come with that. It is 3rd world because they have corrupt governments, so you will most likely loose your business, make very little money, and probably pay a lot to keep yourself safe. Sometimes its better just to donate the money and get a tax free write off. |

Small businesses and third world countries are not capable of updating their technology as often as their larger, wealthier counterparts. Unable to compete with multinational firms and wealthy nations, small businesses and third world countries and forced to do business locally, never growing and reaching their full potential.
Since many issues deal with hunger and poverty in third world countries, maybe there is a business that you could start that would address these issues?

Choose a third world country with lots of tourists from your hometown. Serve them with stuff you guys are used to. Stuff that you wont find in that country. Honestly, it wont be easy if your target market is a bunch of locals. |
