Think of all your interests & ask yourself if any of those could be expanded into a business. Just keep in mind...what's your expertise? What are your interests? What could you imagine yourself doing?
By researching the prospect of starting your own business -- what it entails, what you need to know, helpful hints, etc -- you'll feel better prepared to take that plunge.

From experience, I can offer some advice.
Choose a subject you know about and are interested in. Then think of something that you could do to offer a service to people in regards to that subject.
The idea could be as simple as buying wholesale bulk goods and selling business starter packs on ebay, there are always people that are looking to set up on there. I know, I had a shop on ebay for a good 6 months, then moved onto something else because I found a new idea. Don't spend more than 50% of the rrp then sell for the rrp (sometimes can sell for more on ebays auctions).
Whatever you do, don't fall for any scams, make money rich schemes or any of that rubbish. Those people do make money, by raking it from YOU!
Research your chosen industry/subject/service and make sure that there is a real need for it, or you may end up stuck with tons of stock that you can't shift.
And be prepared to throw alot of time and energy at it too. The more effort you put in, the more successful you'll be.
I know what I'm talking about, I've successfully created more than one business! And I'm not a mensa genius!

Here is what I discovered upon my own personal adventure of wanting to set-up & establish a business of my own..First of all you need to take the time to look for the general area in which you are thinking of adding a new business too,Then see what the general population of that area is,like young adults,adults mid-life,
teens or even the elderly.Once you have established those answers then select what you would like to open from what you came up with.You see I am wanting to open a Hooka Bar in a part of town that generates young adults,along with same sexed genders mostly & with all the no smoking laws (which I do agree with)that have come into play a Hooka bar will allow people of legal age to relax indoors with friends enjoying the sweet flavors of tobacco that are on the market these days..But before wanting the Hooka Bar I had even though about a Thrift store as long as there were no others in the surrounding area and the neighborhood looked to be that of one that would donate goods for the store..Anyway that should help you some and I wish you the best of luck in your new adventure.. |

The fact that you have to ask a question like that suggests that you are not ready to start your own business. Successful businesses are normally run by people who are totally commited to a specific business idea, you have not even got your own idea yet. |

If you wanted to start your own business heres a few ideas!
1) Errand Service Business ~ Hard to get going but once you have clients the money could roll in
2) Start your own in home care for elderly people! Theres a lot of work that goes into it but the pay off could be good OR a service where a loved one is checked in on!!
3) This might sound crazy but if you live in a city run a daycare for dogs. People treat there animals like there kids :)
Thats all I got off of the top of my head. If you want to run a business that is legit and ready to start now let me know. I work for a great company from home.

Depends on what you want to do and what you can do.
If you live in the south of england strongly consider becoming a craftsman of some kind - painter & decorator, plumber, electrician.
If you are a woman then I would encourage this even more...I know a couple of women who do very well - one as a decorator, one as a gardener - positioning themselves as "Lady Gardener" etc - they capitalise on the fact that people believe they will clean up after them and not try to rip them off.

The secret to starting your own business and being successful is to sell a product or provide a service that no one else in your area is providing, but is in high demand.
I am starting up my own Herbal Medicine clinic, as I have a Diploma in Herbal Medicine and there are no others in the whole city where I live. Give it a lot of thought and don't be sucked in by high street banks who will want to throw large sums of money at you.
Do it all on your own back. If you need a shop, set a shed in the back garden and advertise from your front lawn. Good Luck. |
