Stuart | I have finally got the cracking business idea which will work as I got a little proof? Do I borrow money or ? |
I have been searching for the correct idea to make me a good living and nowthe time as come. To set up it willcost around 15-18k but with a monthly return of 3-5k. Is it best for me to use my credit cards or to get a invester or a loan. I know for a fact this will work but dont know the next stage. Should I get some one in to organize things as my skills are weak at this? Where can I go to do a Buisness plan ? Iam so excited cant sleep! |

The best way to get money will depend on two things.
1. The exact nature of the business and exact purpose that the money is for (ie. to buy stock -get an overdraft or short-term loan, spend on marketing, product development, manufacturing etc)
2. What is available to you (how is your credit rating, do you have any security, do you have experience in the business you are refering to - if not banks won't come in a million miles of you)
Really you need to seek professional advice. |

it's great that you've got a business idea. first things first you need to do lots of research to make sure that there is a need for your idea and who will buy and why etc etc, then you put all this info into a business plan.
if you're new to it all then i'd suggest a short business planning course - that's what i did and it covers all the basics like your idea, the law, health & safety, marketing, premises, employing staff, breaking even, financial flow charts and balance sheets and more. you could even do this by home learning as long as you get good tutor support.
i would advise against credit cards for finance - if you need start up funding then look at grants first, then other ways of getting finance like small firms loan guarantee or business angels.
i have selected a few good links to my favourite business advice websites, i hope these help you

If you are convinced of its success then don't get an investor as you will have to then share your success, you only get an investor if there is some risk and then its to spread your risk. However it is very rare that something is a dead cert, you need to check everything. The risks to you are not only about making money you could make tonnes of it and then there is some fault with your product, service etc so what legal implications are there, could your customers sue you, can you protect yourself against this, are there any health/safety regulations you need to comply with, etc etc. What are the income and capital tax implications of your business, this will affect your monthly return. The annual trading limit for VAT is around 61k, which is just over 5k a month and at this point you have to become VAT registered. There are many many factors to consider. I would suggest doing a business plan for your own benefit, not just to get the financing so that you cover all angles and plan for them this way your business is more likely to suceeded as you cannot plan to fail but you can fail to plan! Good luck I hope it all comes together for you. |

I would say, if you can, avoid debts altogether at the start...start small...do a part-time job at first if you can...build it organically and create a business plan over the first six months...that way the data will come from real life not cloud cuckoo land. Then scale up if its all going to plan, or do a hasty retreat if not. |

get a good accountant they will do the business plan and if it is as good as u say then u will need an accountant anyway so better to pay a little out to them now and start it properly than doing something simple wrong yourself |

Get real - get down to any bank and ask them for starting your own business pack. Read all about it and you will be guided through writing your business plan, if it is any good and you convince your bank they will loan you the money, if they think it is a poor investment or you are it won't simple as that. |

You will need a business plan, Business Link Website. They will help you for free. Finance is better bybank loan if you can get one. Or an investor. Credit cards are expensive. Your ability to get a loan will depend on your ability to repay. |
