Read "The Articulate Executive" by Granville N. Toogood (yes, that is his real name). An excellent book for fine tuning communication and leadership skills in the work place or whatever situation in life. |

Listen to every side of every story. Only when you know all sides can you make a truly informed decision.
Remember that you are elected by the people. Listen to them.
Involve as many people as possible with events and activities. Make sure that the same people are not constantly doing all of the work, or is will get real old, real quick.
Sometimes, you just have to put your foot down and say "no." Hopefully that will not be often, but it will happen. Be ready, and do not hesitate.
Regarding meetings - start on time, finish early, and provide snacks and drinks. When we meet, we eat. |

There are plenty of old theories that work just fine. First of all, as many people have said BE SPECIFIC. Never leave wiggle room in your instructions or the outcome will more than likely not be what you desire. Second, go to as many training seminars for Leadership, Supervision, Communications and Monitoring Performance as you can. Most of the good ones are expensive, but worth the price in the long run.
Remember few people are good leaders naturally, but almost anyone can learn to be one. |

be motivating and postive and always there to help others. Be willing to take suggestions from others but remember that the decisions are up to you...because YOU are the leader. :) |

Leadership is a quality, not a job title. If you have it, use it. If you don't, find a new role where it doesn't matter. |

you have to make sure that they know you are in charge and whatever you decide is for the best of" whatever it is your leading", but don't go all Hitler on them stay open to their ideas,cause sometimes they do have really good ideas maybe better then some of your own ideas :)but remember they do have feelings so try to be nice but not bestfriend nice cause' that causes problems later on. |
