I need a faster way out!?
I'm 18 & have my high school diploma. I don't want to go to college for anything! I have an o.k job for my age as a customer representative at a popular mall. I make good money here, but this isn't something I want to do for the rest of my life. I want to start my own business. I want ownership......I guess I'm looking for an easy way out. But I don't want to go to college. What do I do? HELP!

The most powerful boss I worked for was a women with a high school diploma. She rose to regional division president of a national company with stock options(ownership). You could be the next one. But here is what you must be willing to do. Replace traditional education with your own.
1. At every place you work or those places of business you visit - ask and find out who the best at their job is. Then interview them. How were they singled out as the expert and how did the achieve it. Take the best practices and make them your own in sales, operations and service. Observe!
2. Learn from other people's mistakes, both the ones they tell and the ones you see. Everyone makes mistakes, not everyone learns from them. I might make every mistake in the book but I only make it once. I would rather admit being wrong now, learn how to do it right and get it right the next time. Repeating mistakes wastes time and that is something you don't seem to want to do.
3. Map a course out for what you love about ownership - what is your vision, passion, dream. What makes you work when you are tired, invest time when your day is busy. Just owning isn't enough if you don't have passion attached to it. I have owned my own business and it takes HARD work. Security and money will only take you so far. Love of what you do takes you further and makes it more fun.
4. Learn how to win and lose an argument with good grace. When you have good relationships with colleagues and can respectfully disagree - you build a network of support that you can count on that college graduates call on all the time. YOU must compete by forging good friendships and support networks - help each other succeed and celebrate the successes together. Don't waste energy on envy.
5. Get a mentor in line with your passion and dream. Their success also carries a web of good relationships you can learn from and they may put to your advantage when you earn their trust.
6. DON'T burn bridges! No matter how good it feels to tell someone off be smarter than you are angry. Be right and be great at what you do and it is a sweet revenge.

Good luck - don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it this way. But you can do it the hard way or the easy way. Listen, learn and build relationships. You will get there...

You a want a business with sound leadership and an excellent product. YTB is that company. It was founded by three visionaries who desire for ordinary people to be able to make an extraordinary income. Travel is a $7 trillion dollar per year industry. Go to: www.residualincome2u.com and listen to a 4 minute video. Pause ten seconds at the end and complete a survey. You can also visit: www.travelforpennies.biz and listen to a daily conference call mon-fri @ 6PM ((PACIFIC TIME)) 1-641-297-7281 and enter 875782 and the # sign. You can great income right away. Best Wishes on your endeavor. I think its better to capitalize on a strong market with a turn key business that is already in place and is doing well. YTB is a debt-free company/

You are 18, so the money is good for now and you have some ideas and dreams. The main thing here is to get some knowledge. If you have the opportunity to get it, do it.

How long to get your college done? 3, 4 years. I once read a thing where the bloke wanted to quit everything because studying is going to deprive him of this fantastic future ahead. So the old guy asked the man how old he is now. And if he finished his studies, how old will he be then?

The fact of the matter here is nobody actually wants to go and study and go through all of the stuff after high school, but still, you might just be better equipped one day in the future.

Just a thought here. I waited until I was 26 before I started studying and I am enrolling every time into something else the moment I finish of something. Doesn't make me smart, I need to be on top of things in my trade [and I travel way too much to settle down!]. It took me a long turn to realize that knowledge is power. Money too, but don't let anybody tell you it comes that easy.

Best of luck whatever you do!

Forget about me
Education is the best legacy! lol Well you know what, its not all about white collar jobs or school qualifications nowadays its about finding what ur good at or what motivates you and going for it! What are you good at? What do you find fun while doing which can also bring you fortune and maybe even fame? Singing? acting? writing? gossiping?this could mean ur a potential journalist and you could own a magazine.Talking to influencial people or treating crucial matters?you could be the next Oprah! or here's a quick one-if your a nosy evesdropper then supplying the press with peoples' scandalous stories with pictures and enuff proof could earn you big money! Is it dressing people up or putting together lovely outfits that moltivates you? when you find that out, then get back at me! Goodluck

Few STATEMENTS, likely to help you.

1. Education and Experience, both together form a wisdom.
2. It is easy to start a business of your own, however making it a success is not so easy.
3. Present salary may be satisfying you, but your need start growing many folds, with age advancement.
4. Book keeping or maintaining accounts are required in almost every business. Knowledge of Accounts will go along way with, whether you venture into your own business or continue working as an employee.
5. There is a tremendous scope for RETAILERS (i.e., customer representative or customer relation executives), Travel and Tourism, Hospitable Industry.
6. Only those should venture into their own business, who have tremendous entrepreneurship as well as Luck in their favor.
7. If at all you venture for your own business, step in to service industry.

Good Luck !!

I do Avon and Tupperware. Avon is great, but it does require lots of recruiting for customers and the books get kinda expensive since you have to buy the every 2 weeks. Start up is $10 and there is no minimum to sell.
Tupperware is AWESOME in my opinion. I earn an average of $1000 per month by holding 2 parties each week (about 5-6 hours per week). I could work more, but I have a 1 month old so that isn't feesable right now. The start up fee is $69 or $99 for the big kit. You have to sell $300 every 4 months to stay a consultant (1 average party is around $400 in sales). I also like that they give you incentives (free product, cash, trips, car allowance!) Check out my website if you want more info.

I applaud you for realizing the need to start your own business. However, as a business owner, you must learn the principle of delayed gratification. If you are willing to learn from other successful people, you will be at a huge advantage and have the possibility of being "retired" at the age that many begin their "careers". Do you know what you want to do? Do you know why you want to start a business? What are you willing to give up to get what it is you want? These, and others, are questions you need to reflect on and you need to decide that you WILL be successful.

I work with a team of successful people dedicated to helping people such as yourself reach their goals. However, the biggest responsibility is on yourself. You have to be willing to MAKE IT HAPPEN!

To your success!

You seem to have a good head on your shoulders.
I'm not going to lie to u
what you should do is stay at this job at least for awhile it will give u some retail knowledge. Maybe try to get in to the book keeping or stock ordering end of the store. this will help u learn a part of running a real business. Than after work you really should take some kind of business courses, just to get some extra knowledge. Yes it will seem like long hours but get use to it, that's the hours you will keep when you own your own business.
good luck
it takes hard work but its worth it.

It's phenomal.
Find a contact in your area, it's growing and fast.
Good luck.
You will need start up money, but you should be able to make that amount of money back fairly quickly.
