The business plan consists of a narrative and several financial worksheets. The narrative template is the body of the business plan.
The real value of creating a business plan is not in having the finished product in hand; rather, the value lies in the process of researching and thinking about your business in a systematic way. The act of planning helps you to think things through thoroughly, study and research if you are not sure of the facts, and look at your ideas critically. It takes time now, but avoids costly, perhaps disastrous, mistakes later.
This business plan is a generic model suitable for all types of businesses. However, you should modify it to suit your particular circumstances.
You will be judged by the quality and appearance of your work as well as by your ideas.

What your business plan should show is anything an investor would want to know before putting their money into your business.
Who is your target demographic, how much will it cost, how much can it earn, how much is it likely to earn, what are you bringing to the table as far as finance and expertise. How much labor is required for the business, what are your ongoing expenses. Are there any licenses required for this type of business and if so do you have them. How much insurance will you carry. How able will the business be to pay back any borrowed monies. How will you be promoting the business, how much business do you need to get to break even, how much business do you need to make a profit.
It's always good to include charts and graphs and have a professional presentation.
Even if this is a self financed business it's a good idea to do this anyway to get a grasp of the bigger picture of what you are getting into. |

Check out competing services and find out what works for them and what doesn't -- and offer a better service

I think in most cities there are agencies to help people like you who want to set up a small business. They would be called something like Business Enterprise or you could ring the Chamber of Commerce and ask them to point you in the right direction. |
