Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy and being offered a new job!!
The arrival of a new baby brings many changes to your life.
If you are happy in your existing job, I would stay put for now. If you're not - then take the new position.
There's not a massive difference in salary ... but you may find a big change in responsibility - especially as you do not have management experience.
I would say (as a mum of 3) that the less stress you give yourself at this time the better. You are very young and there will be plenty more opportunities in the future for you .
Good luck with the birth.

You may have no management experience, but you gotta start somewhere! I was a team leader for a few years in insurance, the main thing is to have the respect of your team, but not make them hate you! Its quite difficult, but putting on monthly incentives really helped me.

Target based incentives like whoever hits target names go into a hat at end of month, winner gets bottle of wine, or beer etc. Once you find out about your team you can tailor incentives to each person, my team was mainly people in their 20's, but I had one woman who was in her 40's and into arts and crafts, so when she won i got her a voucher for a local art shop.

It is a hard decision to make, you want job security, but you also want the higher wages of the new job, is the job within the same company? If it is, absolutely go for it. You can probably go back to your old job if things dont work out. Talk to your boss and explain that you want the job, but are concerned that if you arent happy in it (dont let them think you are worried you might not cut it) you want the security of your old job to go back to. If you explain your worries, they can advise whether or not you can have your old job back if things dont work out.

if its a new company, its a tough decision. If things dont work, you could end up with no job and a baby on the way.

BUT telemerketing jobs are not exactly hard to come by, you should be able to get another one if it falls through.

I would say to go for it, if things dont work out or you feel it isnt what you want, just start looking for another job.

Congrats on the new baby!
xx

It seems like a good offer, yet you doubt it's for you, so you need to look at why you feel like that.

Is it because you have a huge new change coming into your life with the arrival of your baby and you feel you can't commit to something new at this time?

Is it because you doubt your leadership abilities?

Do you have doubts about the market area you are moving in to?

Think these things through and you will come to the best decision you can, as at the end of the day that is all you can do.

A baby will make a difference, so will your wage increase before target earnings but extra hours may be expected to hit the team targets & can you do that at this time?

Not everybody makes a good team leader but if you applied for the job part of you wants to move on, and they obviously agree with your potential. Ask for training if it will help.

You will know the market area better than I, is it workable from a sales point of view?

Look inside, see what is stopping you & whether it is sound or not. Good luck with the new babe and whatever you decide.

First of all congratulations on the new arrival.

Try weighing out the pros and cons of both postitions and see what is more stressfull and more secure.

In my opinion I would think telemarketing is more of an insecure job as team leader but then again if your management skills effect your teams performance for the worse then it could be vice versa.

The Team Leader position seems the career progression route.

Wish you the best.

I would advise you to take it and when accepting do so with confidence. You can always look up the internet, go to the library whatever and learn about basic management skills. If leading a team you have to let them know you are their immediate boss, even if you were 'one of the gang' before. However, this does not mean you have to get 'upity' and bossy. It means you have to be fair and if you have to discipline someone who perhaps is not pulling their weight you do so according to management guildelines, politely and if possible in private, not in front of others. If they have a really good reason why their mind hasn't been on the job eg serious illness of a close relative you must show empathy but remind them that management do expect them to work hard whilst they are paying them. If there is an HR Dept you could suggest the person speaks with them or talk about maybe some leave of absence. Now these are just a couple of senarios which you may or may not come accross in your job but the important thing is you know how to handle situations. Definitely go for it, unless you know in your heart it will stress you out which is not a good idea when you become a new mum. Very best of luck!!!

If they didn't think you were capable they wouldn't have offered you the job!
You'll learn about the management part in the job and that alone will open many more doors for you in the future.
Plus you'll be getting the same minimum payment as you have when you slog your guts out to get the commissions...
not a difficult decision me thinks!

Take the job!

A team leader should be expected to take some decisions. If you can't decide yourself whether or not to take this job, then don't.

are you boy or girl, are you having the baby if so stay at home have your baby, get it to school age and then return to work, if you are lee the boy, stop crying to everybody, seems you are not mature enough to make your own decisions but if you want my thought, 460 a week in not quite enough for mamma and baby, you have to change job
