Debugonnawinnow | I saw a "secret" e-mail that might get me fired!? |
I work at a small video game store. I've been working there for about 2 months. My first paycheck came fine, but my second and third had problems. My second paycheck was late and I kept having to talk to my manager and boss about getting it to me. I got 9 days after I was supposed to. My third paycheck was late as well, but only by 3 days. But this time it was $60 less than I should have gotten. I showed my boss my hours I worked (I kept a record) and then he said he'd get my $60 to me soon.
I worked last Friday and kept asking about my $60. My manager said he'd e-mail the boss and find out. A couple hours later, my manager had to go to another store to pick up a PS3 and left me alone with the assistant manager. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I called my boss and got only his voice mail, and then I remembered the e-mail my manager sent him. I checked the company e-mail (which wasn't password blocked) and this is what I found: Additional Details Hey [Boss],
hey here in [city] [debuggonnawinnow] & kyle are here working with me and i wanted to send [debugg] home but he says that he is waiting for you to bring him $60 bucks that you missed on his check. it never ends with
this guy. were you planning to bring that by today? it is getting really hard to juggle both jordan and [debugg]. i know that mike wanted
to keep him on but if it were up to me i would say release him. he is a great kid but i don't think retail is right for him. we've also got your reserved copy of "Boogie" that you can come get at your earliest convenience! anyway, i wanted to let you know about that.
thanks,
chris
Those 10.15 hours that we shorted [debugg] will be added to his next check for the pay period [debugg] 1-15, paid on the 20th. Please let him know. His dad called me the other night and wondered what was
going on. Keep him on the schedule 1 day a week and we'll reevalute after the current pay period.
Thanks, Have a Rockin' Weekend in So Jo! |

You are going to have a number of employers in your life. End your tenure with each on good terms. You will most likely cross paths with many of the same people.
For the emails, look at it like an episode of "The Office" and move on. |

It's probably not a good idea to mention the email since it was not intended for you to see. Good luck finding another job, hopefully you will find better management next time around. |

I wouldn't say anything. Just get another job and get out of there as soon as possible. |

I wouldn't bring up the email and I would not just walk out either. Work ethic is very important and giving 2 weeks notice is the correct thing to do. |

if you are going to leave...why bring it up...its not going to save your job and would probably get you fired because you are not management and password protected or not, had no business reading the email...if you were my employee and I found out...you would be fired on the spot.
you have your money...quit and find another job...and stay away from management emails |

No, if it was not password blocked and you didn't get on to someone elses email account, it would be considered a public email. If you do not get your money or money is withheld incorrectly, you can always contact the labor board about your situation. Your boss has the right to contact and talk to his boss about his concerns. |

wow, that's a tough call...the emotional side of me says to call them to task, bring up the email & demand answers! howerver, the rational side of med thinks that ignoring the existence of the email you 'accidently' saw & moving on maturely is the right thing to do. LISTEN TO THE RATIONAL SIDE! |

Don't mention the email, keep your job. I would go the manager and say, " I just wanted to let you know I am sorry about all the problems we have had with my pay and such, just wanted to let you know I have no hard feelings and I enjoy working here" That will let him know you are not furious, even if you where. And having your parents call, dude, don't. That just shows your not grown up enough to handle your business. What I think is the other guy in the email, Chris was it?, is jealous and is probably trying to make you look bad. Perhaps the Boss and Michael see some good in you and Chris doesn't like the competition. Keep you chin up and keep working hard for now. Don't quit yet. |
