Flyers, newspaper ad, maybe craigslist.org

Find out where potential customers hang out and put up flyers and posters there.

Get to your new job 1 hr early; Go around the neighbourhood and put colored flyers for all the neighbours, giving them a special deal.

This way if someone is interested, they can call your cell phone and you can go to that job after you finish the one you got hired for.

:-) Just my opinion.

Put it on the side of your vehicle. You can get magnets or removable decals that won't damage the paint.

Also, you should have business cards and have them with you at all times. Please get professionally printed ones on good quality cardstock so people will take you seriously. Don't print your own - it's worth the investment to make a good impression and it says you take your business seriously. You should also have a good sized display ad in the yellow pages.

You can also invest in pens or pencils with your name and phone number on them. People should ahve ready access to your contact information and you want to keep your business name top of mind.

Get a professional looking website with a professional, easy URL, like www.joespressurewashing.com. If you can't do it yourself, pay someone to do it. People like to reasearch businesses before they hire them, so you should definitely have an internet presence. Plus it can speak for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Your site should be easy to navigate and read with no flashing, gimicky crap. Have your full contact information on every page (you can put it in the page footer). You have about 30 seconds to capture a customer's interest. Make sure your message is clear on the very first page. Testimonials from other customers are also helpful.

And your web address should be on EVERYTHING you do - invoices, promotional give aways, business cards, etc.

Please don't pimp out your kids with your logos - that's ridiculous and their friends will make fun of them. Also, don't do the flyers in the parking lot. Nobody I know takes those things seriously and most of them get thrown away or on the ground because people find them annoying. Don't annoy potential customers by knocking on their doors either. Many communities have a no soliciting policy because most people don't like strangers knocking on their doors asking for money.

I run a "niche" business like yours where you don't get "walk in" customers.

We have gotten the best return on investment by using direct marketing. Identify your potential customers. It is not always easy but worth the effort. We then made up 2-color postcards and sent those to the ones we Identified as possible customers.

We made our own design on software and printed them ourselves on postcard paper. It only costs .24 to mail a postcard. That was a pretty cheap way to get started. I figured that including the paper, ink & postage that each postcard cost us about 71 cents.

We had much better success with postcards as opposed to any print ads.

Depending on big of a city you are in craigslist.com or postaroo.com are free places to put ads also.

Best of Luck.

Put an ad in you local paper and in surrounding counties if you want to work out of town too. Word of mouth is the best way, so after you do a few jobs, if they like your work and price, they will recommend you to friends, neighbors, etc. Good luck

Vehicle Magnets or lettering, flyers, business cards, word of mouth....the possibilities are endless.

Put up flyer's at grocery stores and places like Home Depot. Also Tell as many people as possible! Bring it up in every conversation you have when possible. Word to Mouth is the best advertising period! Flyer's attached to the door handles of people's front doors work well too. I have friends with Landscaping Businesses and such and those are the ways they told me get the most reply's. They take a Consensus on theire customers too so they know where to spend ther money on that stuff!!

Hope that helps

Pass out business cards or leave business cards on someone's windshield wiper or on a table at a restaurant after eating

Post flyers on or in:
Posts or telephone poles
Churches
Synagogues
Grocery stores on bulletin boards
Animal Clinic
Laundry mat

OR.. if you know someone owning a store or local business, have them post your flyer up...

Put your business in the newspaper
(Have a free event and post the event for FREE in newspaper under events) And..then, charge after the free service

Post a sign in your yard

Create a car magnet for your business and contact phone number

Make keychains for your child's bookbag (if you have a child)

Make a logo for your child's clothing to wear to school

Have it broadcast on the radio

Create a website

Put it in the phone book

Good luck!

Michelle
