Be enterprising. Offer to do yard work or other service type labor for the folks in your neighborhood.
As for the expensive guitar, a word of advice from an ex-working musician. There are plenty of cheap guitars out there that are just as serviceable (and in some cases better) than the expensive ones. No amount of money that you put into an instrument will make you a better player. Hit your local pawn shops and look for a good deal on a well built used one and put the money you save away for a rainy day. |

I'll assume based on your age that you're not already a master at the instrument. First off, forget the expensive guitar. Get yourself a well-made but practice-quality instrument. Let the quality of your instrument match your ability. When I was starting out, I bought myself a limited edition Fender Fat Strat. Guess what? I still sucked. It took years before I could make it sound like a guitar of any quality. Until you reach a certain level of skill, you won't sound better on a $10,000 Martin than you would on a $90 Yamaha. Buy what you can afford so that by the time you can afford better, you'll deserve to hold the instrument. |

Whats up man. I'm 14 to and play the guitar too. I got my first acustic guitar w/ birthday money, and i got my first electric by learning to play it well and my parents decided to buy it for me to continue my guitar knowledge.
So, just play your recent guitar and sooner or later you'll parents will buy u new one, so just be paintent, If you don't have a guitar at all, don't buy one if u can't play it! Learn to play on a school guitar or a friends or something. |

If you know how to play well, then i suggest you start mowing lawns. If you are a beginner then i would not go spend my hard earned money on a top of the line guitar. I would stick with a decent Epiphone Acoustic. They are great sounding guitars and great to learn on. They are a Gibson product, and Gibson..well, need i say more? |

If u can't afford a guitar, here's what you do: You get an empty tissue box a paper towel tube and about 4 rubber bands. You cut a hole in the box large enuf for the tube and put the tube in. Then stretch the rubber bands over the box. And BAM! You got a guitar. I hope your rubber bands don't pop. |

heck have a garage sale and sell some of your old stuff. Go door to door and ask to wash neighborhood cars too.
I bought an awesome limited edition fender strat for $500.00 it was half off. The more expensive guitars usually have better components than the cheaper versions.
When your ready to buy your guitar, buy it from guitar center, then you can actually check it out and make sure it has a good action and melodic sound.

get a big jar and start putting all your change in it.
And put dollars in it every chance you get, put 5 or 10 dollar bills in it as much as possible. DONT BE TEMPTED TO SPEND IT! eventually you will raise that money.
I do this all the time just to have a little extra cash laying around for emergencies. |

Not true. Newspaper routes and mowing lawns is always a way to earn money. There's also lemonade stands (just make sure the price is right for the kind of day it is and that it isn't too sweet or too tart). You can put an ad in the paper for any business you want to run.
There's always the direct approach as well:
1. Ask for a raise for your allowance and
2. Whether the answer is yes or no, you can still save with the money you have left, and plan a maximum spending limit (per week). |
