I would strongly recommend that you talk to a business counselor before you do anything especially spend money. I'd call the local office of SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zip code to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE.
The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to dig out all of the start up details and the costs of starting a maternity resell clothing store and force you to also understand all of the aspects of this business including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.
You'll need to register the business with your state controller's office and make sure that you have any city and county licenses if any are needed where you live. All of this will come out in a business plan.
Try this link :

It's a good idea, but many stay at home moms do this...so just check your area and market and see if there is a bonafide need for this.
It's more than likely a better idea for used baby clothes vs. used mommy clothes...but that is just me. |

Sounds like a great idea. Women only wear their maternity clothes for 9 months (and maybe just a bit longer after birth), so they tend to be in great shape. |

I'd advise you to proceed with caution.
Competing with every garage sale in town is probably not the recipe for striking it rich. |

That is a real good idea, you know alot women can't afford to go out and buy brand news clothes just to wear for 9 months I know when I was pregnant I borrowed clothes from friends so yea, I think you really have a great idea but be sure to offer other things that would relate to having a baby. Hey, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you make it big so go for it and have fun with it. |

Great idea, Most of our locak re-sale shops say there is a shortage of maternity clothes in the store. |

Sounds like a great idea they have them around here where i live and they come in handy. Maternity clothes are to expensive and what if you don't get pregnant again new ones are a waste. |

Very good investment. Women will always be pregnant so you're demand will always be there, and for that matter - so will your supply! My sister-in-law owns a bridal reconsignment shop and makes very good money. Good Luck!! |

It sounds like a good idea. Check out www.dreameedesign.com for assistance with developing your idea, naming your business, and coming up with a logo. The prices are reasonable. If you would like to start selling online checkout www.dreameehost.com. They have great hosting plans and offer assistance if you're not computer savvy. |

This is an awesome idea. Maternity clothes are very expensive and typically very lightly used. I can't imagine anyone not wanting to buy used - except maybe Paris Hilton if she were pregnant. |
