I want to start selling the jewelry only thing is I am low on the funds?

I want to start selling the jewelry I make but I don't know where to start,any suggestions?

3 ideas:

1) do you have friends/acquaintances/coworkers who also create handmade items (pottery, fabric arts, other metal arts, glass arts, paper arts, photography, etc.)? if so, you plan an event where all of you show your work and invite everyone you know. you can have this event in someone's home and use email to get the word out. have a little food and drink and make it a fun event for people. be sure to have a mailing list so people can sign up to increase the number of people who come to your events. plan to have at least four events in the year. i have friends who have been doing this for a number of years and they've gotten so successful they now have a store.

2) does your city/town have a "first friday" arts event? this is where the gallery district of your town hosts an event where all the galleries stay open late and serve food and drink. the idea is to bring people into the district for a party atmosphere. where i live there are a number of these events in different districts (and of course not all on friday, but that's the tradition in the arts world). many of the gallery owners will allow artists to set up tables on their front lawns for free to attract more customers. see if there's a place for you at such an event.

3) know anyone who does "direct marketing" parties? you know, those events where people get together and learn all about and buy candles, or kitchenware, or lingerie, or vitamins. there are parties for clothing - you can find them in just about any city. find the ones in your city and attend them. get to know the host of the party and ask if you can bring your jewelry to their events to enhance the appeal of the event and to bring in more people (from your list of friends/acquaintances/coworkers). this technique is now quite common - various direct marketing sellers combine their products in one event. they get a whole lot more people (multiple mailing lists) and they get more interest because people may have already seen one of the offerings, but not the others.

Try going to some of the local stores in your area. It will depend on your style of jewelry. Lots of small towns or boutique areas love to have local custom made things in their stores. Of course you have to sell wholesale to them, which means you don't make much, but its a start. There is also ebay and/or setting up a web site to sell.. I wish you the best in your endeavor.

If you're really serious about it, you can open your own business. You could check into grants that the government gives for entry level business owners. Be sure you're ready for a business that could grow, you'd need facilites and employees... it could be a big ordeal. If you're still really young, as I know many on Y!A are, you could try to get your friends involved in a huge yard sale. See if they'll donate to your dream.

Step one get a website. Upload pictures of your wares.. Use frontpage, or a website builder to start.

step 2. Ebay and link to your store.

ebay - lots of people sell their jewellery there and you can set up your own little online shop.

Get a better idea than jewelery selling.
