Find somewhere else to work?
Depending on what exactly he says (for instance, if he demeans you because you are a woman) you may be able to take legal action for discrimination . . . but it can be a long, complicated process. Contact your local Department of Labor.

Get other jobs. He won't change. I had a couple like this, it's like they have so much pressure to keep the business going they snap at the very people trying to help him. Print this and let him read it: There is a law against creating a hostile work enviornment. I have met so many people like you, you need therapy. Seriously or its going to be immune deficiency disorder from the stress you are causing yourself. I had breast cancer, I had a life of stress, mom was mentally ill, I was molested numerous times, I had a child of rape. She's a mother of two. Sometimes in life we have to look hard to find something good. If you don't you are dead. Maybe of a heart attack, stoke, kidney failure, ulcers that bleed. Check out my credentials before you throw this in the can |

I would say contact your local Labor Board and find out about the laws in your state/city.
It all depends on how he is being abusive? If he is saying mean rude things because your a female you can get him for descrimination, or if there is any sexual harrassment involved you could go that route.
Just be careful and I wouldn't wait to do anything, I would make calls on your next day off or if you have a cell phone make them on your break out at your car or some other place so nobody can hear you.

That's a tough situation to be in. You do have rights, so if you have documentation or someone to back you up about things he's doing illegally, then you can go against your employer.
Challenge with that is, and this is really sad, this will in general give you a bad reputation, not him. You'll be seen as a troublemaker.
So here are your more likely options:
1. Talk to him, be honest but non-confrontational. Have others as a backup, but don't all go into his office at once. Talk to him, tell him how his management style makes you feel, and how it's reducing your productivity.
2. If that doesn't work, find another job.
3. If you feel that #1 might not work, and he will take offense to it, but you still want to do something about it, get another job offer, talk to him, and if things don't work out, you have a backup plan.

Whether he owns a franchise or is an independent business owner the same rules apply (sexual harassment, paying less than minimum wage, under aged children working for him for almost no pay, etc.). Whatever he can't get away with in a big business he can't get away with in his little restaurant business. Report him if the abuse applies to what they can't get away with. |

When he is the boss, it is his rules and his way of doing things.
If you do not agree to his ways the best advice will be to leave.
It will not help to report him to anyone. The type will just have it shuffled downwards and then you will be out of work anyway!
If you make up your mind have a 'jerky' talk with him! Best of luck there! |
