No, people give tips for good service but only if they feel like it, there are no laws on tipping in restaurants within the UK.
A contract is all you can demand, what is in that contract is up for negotiation between you and your employer before you sign up to work for him/her.
Some places do not allow tipping and so you could not negotiate for tips.
However if there is a tip box in place on the premises you could negotiate for a share, but it is not always agreed that new personnel get included at first but have to serve a term of approval before allowed a nose at the trough. |

no, it is at the discretion of the restaurant owner who is entitled to keep them all for him/herself...if that is happening where you are working then it may be an idea to look for another job |

you need to ask your employer BEFORE you accept a contract to work how they deal with tips. There's very little legislation on tips and most every company has their own policy and way of doing things.
either quit your job and find another, doing your research first, or ask your employer. |

yes you Are legally entitled to tips. |

Your not entitled to tips you are entitled to a wage even though it is minimum wage. If you want tips smile be friendly, just so you know tip means to insure promptness TIP. Make the customer want to be served by you again another hint is always give extra time to couples hopefully on a first date, no bloke wants to look cheap in front of a girl. |

Most places tend to have their own rules on it. Where I work they all go towards the christmas meal at the end of the year, but it varies from place to place.
Check with your boss, and see what they do with them.
Just a quick 'Hey [name], I was wondering what happens to the tips we all get?' or 'do we get to split the tips we've made at the end of the week/month/year'
Good luck! |

Yes you are but different establishments handle them differently. Some pool all the tips and distribute them among all the stall and some let the person who earns them keep the,
Good luck♥ |

usually there is a communal pot where all tips go and are divided at the end of the week. |

what i think is the best is every body that gets tips if you put the money together and share it then every body is happy at the end of the day. Some of the workers may get more tips than you which all adds up its better to share as no one is left out and every one is happy. |

it depends if the tips are shared equally between all of the staff or if theyre put into a kitty for a christmas party or suchlike for instance. they are to benefit the staff though not for the boss to pocket the lot |

right this is a funny old thing and goes back to the year dot, often if money is given as token in preferential service then the tricky bit is if the company decides that all the tips have to be added up or divided but not deducted from your wages.
if not then the money is yours (i could do with a load of money at the moment)! |
