I need to open a bank account very quickly - just for paying wages into and pref a visa electron type card.
Unfortunately i have no passport or driving licence - is there anything else that i can use? does this mean i can not open one? :( |

A bank might think you not a good risk for a cheque account if you have no ID You could perhaps supply an electricity or gas account to prove that you are resident at your address but they will usually want some form of ID with Your signature on. They are pretty fussy these days because of money laundering. Why not ring your bank and ask them what they will accept. |

You may be able to use a birth certificate and SS card, but you will soon need a picture ID for other things, such as flying on a plane or entering a federal building, so just apply for and get an ID card from the Dept of Motor Vehicles in your state.My bank debit card also has my picture on it. When I use it now, I never (almost) get asked for ID! |

Birth Certificate. Electricity/water/gas bill. A formal letter with your name and address on - get your Doctor to write something for you. |

Suggest the following :
Birth Certificate
Marriage Certificate ( if applicable )
Utility Bill with your full name and address
Medical NHS Card with full namd and current address
National Insurance Number Card
Recent Correspondence ( with your full name and current address on ) from say HMR & C ( Inland Revenue ) or Job Centre or DWP or perhaps anything else from an official body. |

Take as much info that has your name ,address or photo on p45 or letters from inland revenue are good and photo id is particularly good, if not see about having it paid into a family account until you get sorted then apply for your passport birth cert not always accepted now too easy to get hold of. good luck had same prob several years ago . |
