If I wanted $10.00 for babysitting the child and $5.00 an hour is this an apppropriate price too much or less?
I live in West Tennessee in an economically poor area and the going rate is $25 per day.

if you do it for a while, you may be able to bargain a little better - once your clients get to know you

May also depend on the age of the child. But that seem s like a good rate

Its good. I pay $10/hr to my babysitters. It depends tho on how many kids your watching and if you do other stuff like load up the dishwasher or help the kids clean up their rooms. I usually give a good bonus to a babysitter who helps keep the house clean while Im gone.

It's depending on how many hours but i think that is a good price.

I guess it really depends on where you live and the economics of the area. For instance, I live in the Tampa Bay area of Florida, and the going rate here is $10 per hour.
The following link offers appropriate rates per location.
i babysit 3 times a week, I get paid $15/hr for one child

I'd say that $5.oo an hour is very reasonable. Make sure you are mature and responsible and that you approach it professionally. I know lots of couples that use baby sitters and if they know that the babysitter will be responsible and kind to the children, $5.oo an hour is not much to pay. If they are going out to dinner or a movie, it might be more than just two hours. You might find you can make some good spending money by babysitting one or two days per week. Good Luck!
