If it's for a job, the company itself that's hiring wouldn't be asking for money. You'd be receiving a W2 form. If it's a home job, sometimes you will have to buy equipment in order to work for the company (phone equipment) that is required, just like if you were to purchase a uniform to work. Work at home, some computer things are a requirment, just like that uniform you had to pay for. If it's a business within a business then you would have to put an investment, because it's not a job, it's a business.

There are legitimate businesses that require an investment, but that is different. |

Not always. Certain professions require licensing, for which fees are paid by the applicant. Certain other jobs, especially skilled trades, require specialized tools which the worker buys and owns.
There are scams. When in doubt, always check with your state's attorney general's office. They know the law and can tell you if what the employer is requiring is legitimate. |

Yes. Even headhunters are paid by the hiring company, not by the employee. Any work-from-home online job that requires money sent up front is DEFINITELY a scam. |

it depends - mostly yes
but, if you are buying a franchise or investing into a company - or starting your own - then you have to spend money to get it going
sometimes - employment agencies will require the job seeker to pay - not normally - but sometimes -
most of the work at home stuff are scams - stay clear |

There are many legit business opportunities out there in direct sales, multi-level and network marketing. There are great companies to work with, but having a business isn't for everyone.
