If an employee is paid an hourly wage, should he/she be paid every week?
Pay rate is 16.50 an hour.

LD
being salary or hourly dosen't matter, they can be paid weekly or bi-weekly or monthly.

Employer sets how often the pay is. I have two clients who pay semi-monthly to their hourly employees and they get less than $10 an hour.

rabbit
It depends on the company. Keep in mind that a company save a lot of money on payroll cost when it pays bi-weekly or monthly. It might not be good for the employee, but save the company. This is why most companies do this. I make it tough to pay your bills but, you will have to learn to budget. If they are doing it right it will not cost you any extra tax if their not you will pay more, watch your check. Starting waves over something this small is not good, it's tough to get a job right now. Ask me I'm unemployed and in need and no unemployment to help. I had to go with my morals and leave the company.

Kiki
That is up to the employer. In general, when I worked jobs that paid by the hour, I was paid every two weeks.

K8TNELL
it depends on how the company pays. Most that I'm familiar with pay every other week, some do 1st and 15th. It should be posted in the break room next to the federal information for pay rates/ dates and emergency contacts.

jwishz
Not necessarily. You can pay weekly, bi-weekly or semi-monthly. Might look at how often the competition pays. No hard and fast rul

Most places pay every 2 weeks or twice a month. It depends on how they set up their payroll. It is cheaper for them to process twice a month verses weekly.
