Crikey that is a wide open question, you need to think about it, if it is an invention of some description or a discovery of so,e description get a patent first, however this is tricky, a solicitor will help you. If it is not as complex as that you need a plan stan.
People never plan to fail they just fail to plan.
See your bank manager they will act as a business advisor also, probably could help more if had a n idea of line it is in? Good luck though, hope you become a zzzzzzillionaire :) |

I'd talk to a counselor at SCORE (go to http://www.score.org and input your zipcode to find the chapter nearest you), the advice is FREE. I hope you feel passion for what you want to do because that is the first step on your way to becoming a successful entrepreneur.
The counselor at SCORE will most likely advise you to write a business plan which is very good advice because it will force you to find out all of the start up details and their costs and force you to also understand all of the aspects of your new business idea including the customers you'll concentrate on (your market ) and how you'll go after them.
Try this link :

and read some of the articles especially the ones about a business plan and starting a business. Also go up on this link

It doesnt really matter where you start just so long as you start. Once the ball is rolling you find out more and more as you go along. You'll learn with experience. A successful person in business isnt the one that gets given a chance, its the one that takes it. |

You werent specific, so i'll give a general idea. i assume it is traditional product/service business.
Do research on it and find out if it is a viable business. Surf the net, ask people what they think, talk to business-minded people just to get an idea that it is worth the effort. Doesn't have to be 100% sure it'll take off. If it is more than likely say 51%, then it is good enough to follow that idea.
Find out what you'll need to get started, ie if u plan on making a product: do u need material, labour, machines etc.? Think of all different ways to start, at least 10 strategies. Eg you can do all work yourself or you can outsource. You can fund it from savings or get loans.
Try and start small with as little investment and funding through loans as possible. This reduces stress of having to repay large amounts to lender coz cash flow is a little dry in the beginning.
Let your business grow and use cash received to fund the business.
Marketing: Think of all the free and cheap advertising methods. Internet, word of mouth, flyers, cold calling
Tips:
1. Always have a plan for every decision you make. Write it down so you make it clear for you what u must do.
2. When making a decision try to think of as many different options as possible. Choose the one most suited to your product, your business as a whole and your pocket.
3. Once you got a plan, take MASSIVE ACTION to implement it.
4. Most starts-ups overthink and overanalyse. It is NB to ACT on your plans otherwise they'll never materialise. Don't worry about taking the wrong step. Take the step you think is best, if it turns out to be wrong, at least you'll have direction and you'll know what to do next. But if you do not take the first step, u'll never get started.
5. Make sure your product/service adds value to others. People give money in exchange for value. People dont buy toothpaste they buy white, healthy smiles, cavity-free teeth and healthy gums.
6. Enjoy. |

First step is to tell anybody about it who will listen. Keep talking about it, be open to suggestions, and ask questions. Research the area as much as possible. Don't stop thinking about it, the more you think about it and talk about it; the closer the idea comes to a reality. Don't be afraid to get excited about it. Just keep pushing forward and look for and take advantage of any oppritunity that comes your way. You may know somebody who knows a lot about your idea or about taxes or anything that might help you, but they don't know that you want to listen. So just tell everybody about it. Don't tell so much that you think your idea will get stolen, but you will not get answers to 100% of the questions you don't ask. Chances are that somebody who can help you in more ways than you think is right around the corner. |
