If we mow lawns?
My friend and I are saving for paintball equipment and like the idea of mowing lawns. But we dont know a few things because this is our first time working for someone else for money. We are under 15 and live in Corona, CA. AND my friend's brother is 10 and probably helping too. This is a new home community.
1. Should we sweep the grass and throw it?
2. Should we cut the edges?
3. How much should we charge?
Additional Details
Please answer all the questions.

Look at this as a possibility to make additional funds for additional work, A standard lawn cut could be $10 or $15 bucks, to rake up the grass, bag it and throw it out, it's an additional 5, and to trim the edges with a weed-eater, add another $5 on to that.

That way it gives the homeowner the option to pay for a basic service, or upgrade to a full service operation, and you get additional money for the additional work you do!

Win win situation!

You shouldn't mow a lawn i'm very young and I dont even work just stay home or go some place.Just do something alot easier like ask your parents to help or even do a fundraiser.

Yes you should sweep up. Most lawn movers have a mulcher so you don't have to collect the grass clippings (this is better for the lawn).
Yes you must edge.
Are you supplying the lawn mowers?
How are you going to get clients?
How much do you think your time is worth?
How long do you think it will take to mow an average lawn (how big are the lawns in your neighbourhood)?
I would not feel comfortable having a 10 year old mow the lawn but I would be OK with him sweeping.
You might also want to consider offering other services such as weeding.
Take everything into consideration and then you can come up with a rate.

yes on the first two questions, and about $20 bucks a lawn I think would be fair.if someone makes you offer you could deal on the price a little

Take what you can get and you will have return customers...they will pay more then what they say if you do a good job...and remember the faster you get it done the more yards you can do $$$$$$$$

Go and talk to the people that you want to be your customers. Ask them what it is worth to them for you to take care of their yards. Make up some simple business cards, that way, they can call you later on.
Yes, clean up all the clippings, this shows that you care about your work. If you have your own equipment, try to use a mower a bagger. That will save you clean up time.
Offer edging as an additional service. Edging takes a little more time and effort.
Between 20.00 and 30.00 is a good starting point.
Good luck.

You definately have to edge. Use a lawnmower with a catch bag and $10 is usally reasonable for a front and back yard of a medium size house.

1.yes sweep grass, put it in trash bags and throw it, it will make it look cleaner, 2.trim the edges, also make it look cleaner, 3. it depends on how big the yard is, also what kind of neighborhood (like if they can afford to get their laws mowed) $20 always seems like a good starting point (that's about an hours worth of work), you can always haggel on the price. but it really does depend on how big the lawn is, also ask them how how much they will pay for the work done, or tell them you will do the job first then have them tell you what they think (how much) your work is worth: take what you can get and if they like your work they will call you back and maybe pay you more.

HOT A$S
I would get paid for it up front and never do the job! That would be the easiest way!

when I did that back when i was in 7th grade, we asked. If they just wanted it cut, (not picked up) we'd charge them the least. Then we'd add like 5 bucks if they wanted it swept and thrown. Then an extra 5 bucks if they wanted weed-eated. Me and a friend made about $80 each, and i think we did it for 2 weeks. But we just drove around in a riding lawnmower with a trailer behind us, asking door to door.
charge like $5 an hour to do everything
