Absolutely! That's how non-profits survive. School PTO's and PTA's are non-profits and hold fundraisers all school year. There is a limit to how much you can earn though before it's considered income. I'm not sure but it probably depends on type of or purpose of non-profit. The limit for PTO's was $25000 per year a couple of years ago. |

It depends. Are you a State licensed non-profit or a non-profit with a 501(c)3 tax-exempt status? When you say fundraising, this entails many different levels from Bingo to applying for federal grants.
Start by asking your State Dept of Revenue about your area's requirements for the type of fundraising you have in mind. There are stiff penalties for certain types of fundraising without the appropriate licensure... research first. |
