It's like trying to sell fish and chips at 2pm. You'll just have to wait until teatime comes around. |

People do tend to overspend over the festive season only to wake up later on that life is still going on and that here are expenses to pay. Dont panic. Wait at least untill month end January. When they do come, they will have something in their pockets to spare and will start buying again |

I wouldn't panic. I work for a financial and insurance company, I know totally different business. However, we are always really slow this time of year. People are broke from Christmas and now it's tax time. People don't like to spend their money until they found out how and if they are going to pay uncle sam. |

Yes, it's because it's January. You were selling something when people wanted to buy for their spouses and families. Now, it's not in demand.
Looky lues now.
Sell something that is in demand year round, like a consumable product that people order again, and again, and again.
Forget the furniture biz. It's a struggle and way to hard when you have to chase your tail all of the time. |

Almost every retail business does a large percentage of its annual business in the last month of the year. In fact, Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, is called that because many businesses go into the black for the year during the heavier sales on that day.
People buy things for Christmas they wait all year to buy and combine gift giving with household needs to purchase big items.
This is also the reason that people have temporary workers for the holidays and let them go right afterward.
If you are not aware of this cycle, then you need to gather some government month-by-month sales figures for your industry for the last couple of years and learn what you are getting into. See link |

All the major stores have January sales. While I realize you've just set up in business, you could lower your prices just for this month, to maybe £50 below DFS prices, & put an advert on your site to make everyone aware of this. You might be surprised. Good luck. |
