In most small local shops when you open a shop door a sound is made. anyone know what its called?
most burglar alarms have a chime option, it is as you say to notify that a device has just operated (shop door in your case).
The alarm is not set, its just that the chime function is on.
It was first thought of by "Scantronic" (now called Cooper Menvier) a company who make alarm panels, it started around 20 years ago, and was first intoduced on the scantronic 9100, other compamies soon followed suit
