I would first take an inventory of what you're passionate about or particularly skilled at.
For example, I have a neighbor who loves pets and so she started a pet sitting/walking business and now she works part time and has a full schedule of people paying her to watch their pets.
There any many opportunities to make money online, but there is going to be a learning curve. It may take you more than a year to start making a good income.

You could become a Pampered Chef consultant. I have been doing this for 7 years and absolutely LOVE my job. We are a multi-billion dollar business, almost 30 years old, and belong to the DSA (direct selling association) and DSWA (women's association). Our goal is to make mealtime family-time.
For a $155 investment you get over $500 worth of kitchen tools and paperwork to get your business started. The agreement with the company is that you do 4 shows. On average 1 show is 3 hours and you would earn about $100. You are your own boss, setting your own hours and calendar.

I started a a blog on home based business opportunities on my 360 page. Some are network marketing and some are not.
I only allow business's that I know have a great opportunity. People that I know that are involved in the company and has been proven to me they're making money. I will not allow things such as "paid surveys" although they're not all scams, some you can make a little bit of money. But the time consumption isn't a great opportunity. That should be listed under hobbies or something. Not an income opportunity.
anyhow, take a look at my 360 blog, if you like something and are interested in more information, contact the person that wrote the comment. They can point you in the correct direction on what to do and how to start it.

I have friends who sell for Discovery Toys, Mary Kay, Tastefully Simple, Creative Memories, Southern Living and HOME, Signature Homestyles, Avon, Stampin Up and probably a few more. I'd recommend all these companies as legitimate business opportunities. I'd love to chat with you sometime and maybe I can help you compare/contrast the different companies. I make decent cash doing short surveys and refering people to the site. I have made around $400 in the past 3 weeks, and they pay thru Paypal so it doesn't take long.
