How do you introduce yourself, as Mr/Miss....., or as your first name?
Is it unprofessional to give your first name to clients, and not the surname?
Additional Details
I must admit, I'm mopre comfortable giving my surname to people. It feels too intimate telling my given name.
But I've noticed many people only give the first name, and are known as that name by everyone. |

I give my first name to my clients...initially, my first and last, but when we speak after that it is simply by first names...I think adults who make other adults call them Mr. or Mrs. are full of themselves. |

It tends to be a cultural thing.
In the UK, most of us introduce ourselves by our first names and are happy for people to call us by this name.
But in other countries, like Germany for example, they tend to be a lot more formal and it's Mr or Mrs all the way.
Now that people tend to do business in completely international environments, there is no right and wrong answer to this question. It's all about what you're comfortable being called, and what they person you're speaking to is happy for you to call them. |

I'm a therapist and my clients use my first name, not sure if this would be the case if I didn't live in a small village where everyone knows everyone or not, I rarely give my surname regardless who I'm dealing with |

I introduce myself as both names then if i email them i'll end it with just my first name but then my signature has my full name and title |

I run my own health care business from home and I start off with an introduction of my full name and their full name and as time goes on and I get to know my clients they will usually tell me what they are comfortable with me calling them and i use my first name but mine may be different because a lot of mine clients are long term so I build up friendships up but best to start formal and see how they respond to you good luck |
