squall01 | Interested in Selling Avon? |
I would like to sell Avon. I want to know the perks though. you get 50% off the first 4 campaigns right? Well does that mean you get 50% off of the samples and books, supplies etc.? Is it true you can order more than 1 month ahead? I know you can order 1 month ahead, but can you order in more advanced than that? I sell mark. and am switching to Avon. I did sell Mary Kay but I hated it. I want to sell AVON ONLY!! no others brands. I want to sell something that's cheap, so no purse parties or anything that doesn't have a huge variety of items priced in the range of $0.50 to $6. My customers want stuff that is VERY VERY in expensive. Plus Avon is a great brand and has a great face. Reese witherspoon is the new ambassador for Avon! Some people believe you have to have stock for Avon and you Don't. I don't care if I have stock or not. Additional Details This is for pocket money, and I enjoy doing this kind of thing. I'm doing it just for my benefit, and to make a little extra money. Even if it's just 20% off, it's better than hearing a Rep tell me she has to charge me more than the online price. Plus I've already done Mark, and Avon can back order and Mark can't. Even if I only buy the books for each campaign, it's okay, if that's what it takes to stay active. Plus the shipping times are a little more reliable. My friends and family will buy even though prices are going up, cause they're going up everywhere.
*** CHRISTMAS IS COMING, AND SO ARE THE GIFT SETS!!!!!!!
......Sorry, I just had to say it!
I love Makeup, and I used to be a MK rep, but they were wayyyyy too pushy... |

I am an avon representative too. In order to become an avon representative it only costs $10. You will get 10 brochures for two campaigns (which is a month) and some other tools that will help you get started. They used to have a kit that you could buy that included start up products but they don't anymore. The person tha said it costs $35 is right but this includes the 2nd part of the kit that you are not required to buy. It is the kit to become a leadership representative. What that means is that you recruit others to become avon representatives and then once you recruit enough and you have a certain amount of sales you will make money off of the things they sell. It really is a fun home based business and you are the one in charge of how much you make. If you want to do this you can be successful. What you put into it is what you will get out of it. To answer your other questions:
As an avon representative you can sell mark and AVON but you do not have to sell mark.
You will get 50% off the first 4 campaigns which would be the first two months. You will get this off of products only. The brochures and samples, etc. are all the same price and that never changes. The more books you buy the cheaper they are per book. I would suggest finding someone else to buy books with and then you can get them cheaper. As far a samples go, the fragrance samples are 1.00 for a pack of ten and the skin care samples are a little more. They aren't that expensive when you think about it.
As an avon representative you get a brochure that is for two campaigns ahead and you can order these products as demo items to show your customers. This would be about 1 month ahead of the brochure. The thing is though you can only order one of each product and they are at a discount but you will not get your 50% discount off of them since they already are at a discount.
You do not have to have a certain amount of inventory in stock. You can have in as little or as much as you want.
Hopefully this answers your questions |

To answer your questions:
*No, the 50% does not apply to the supplies or to the demo items. Also, we have some "fixed earnings items" in the brochure denoted with a diamond shape in front of the descriptions. They are at 20% discount only (Disney, NFL, etc.)
*The What's New demo book gives representatives the opportunity to get new product in advance, but in limited quantity. A non-president's club representative can only get 1 of each demo item. As far as ordering in advance goes from the regular brochure, Avon has a system set up that allows representatives to enter orders early into the order system to be saved until it is time for that capaign's order submission date. You cannot submit your order until the system updates and the appropriate campaign is in effect.
You are correct when you say that you do not have to carry stock. Avon offers it to all representatives, but at no time are you required to take it. You can just order on an as needed basis from the brochure. |

I used to sell Avon and made hardly any money considering all the work I did. When I did it the commissions were based on your total sales per campaign so sometimes I did lots of work for next to nothing. Plus you have to buy all the catalogs regularly which can get expensive. I had four territories at one time and was completely broke.
I personally think if you want to do Avon, do it because you like the products and want to make a little pocket money. You can't really consider it a second income. |

I love selling Avon! I have been selling for 2 years now. I decided this year I would make Unit leader and I did in just 4 weeks! This is a good time of year to get started with Christmas coming. Your first order no matter the order size is %50 off and the 2nd thru 4th orders have to be a min of $50 to get 50% off and only on avon products that have the symbol by them.

HELLO my daughter just started avon also... she may do ok here as there are not a ton already selling... I do see an issue that the commission depends on sales total and also if you miss a few order weeks they drop you... i personally sell for a company that I make 45% no matter what, the product goes right to the customer so no handling, and no minimum ordering etc and the catalogs are very cheap... I thought my daugher said her avon brochures were almost 50 cents each or something... i pay only 10 cents for my company brochures... like someone said it may be hard to get a good start with avon but like anything else if you are persistant it may pay off..... if you want to look into something besides avon, email me or see my site... thank you, celia

I used to sell Avon. It is a hard business to make money in. you really have to be devoted. If i am not mistaken there is a kit you have to buy. Avon has became just as expensive as anything else and the products keep getting smaller while the prices go up. Mary Kay tops them all at 13 dollars for a tube of lipstick. The best way to sell Avon is to get a booth at your local trades day events. have lots of products on hand and really talk up the business. |

Ok, I too used to be an Avon rep and there are soooooo many Avon reps, that it's really hard to make a good amount of money on it. I had fun doing it, but didn't really make money.
I do have something that will probably be better for you....how about a designer makeup line that you can promote and use, and the end result is Residual income.
The products are natural based and does not contain any harmful carcinogens or contaminants like other companies do. I'm speaking of Nicole Miller Cosmetics.

Hi!!! I would suggest something other than that. You are not going to make a lot of money with avon. I sell Purse Party and sales are great. You should look around a little more. |

Damn! are they even still selling this stuff anymore?
Ten years ago (in another state), I was friends with a chick that was trying to sell her excess product on e-bay.
More recently, there's a gal at the weekly flea market that is probably doing a decent business selling waaaaayyyy below "Avon's pricing".
Ten years at my new address and only the Witnesses have come to my door.
Where did you get the idea that Avon is 'cheap'? Ten years ago there was nothing under $6.00, gee, maybe I should go check out pricing nowadays. |

Yeah I was a rep too, but it's not that easy. But I just tried this company, it only cost 35.00 to start. I wasn't sure at first but I really needed money so I took a chance. I sold 20 of these vitamins and got a check for $1000 bucks. I am so glad I found this it was worth all my years of searching. I couldn't believe it, I showed all my friends and now they want to do it. Even if you can't keep selling this just tell the 20 friends, family, co workers etc to get a quick $1000...lol |
