Just try and only buy things from respected sellers. Look at the feedback that other members give and if they have too much negative then don't buy from them.

yes but people have gotten scammed because they didnt read the whole thing it said xbox 360 picture and the picture was really little but u could still read picture and he spent 500$ and he couldnt get a refund |

I've never had that problem. Check the seller's rating before you buy, read the buyer's reviews of the seller and you'll feel better.
If Ebay was unreliable, it wouldn't be the powerhouse it is. |

I have used ebay for about 2 years now, and I only had one problem like that. But this is what the ratings are for, look over the user history to see if you should trust them or not. |

Ebay uses a reputaion system that lets other users know how reliable the seller is.
Also you can review their past activity and read reviews other members have wrote about them
So in a nutshell, yes Ebay is reliable. |

it can be, if you use paypal. Once you buy and ;pay with paypal, should the other person cheat you, you gfet your money back. I have never had a problem once, and I've been using it for 4 years, even under age. (18 now) |

E-bay is very reliable! Just stick with the sellers that have the highest percentage of good feedback. Stay away from sellers with little to no feedback. Buy only from sellers wha accept Paypal! Never never pay with a western union payment. I've been buying on e-bay for 7 or 8 years now and have only had one bad experience. |

You can research the person that you are buying from. If they have never had a transaction, then be careful. If they've ever had a complain - Ebay will have that on record. Just make sure you pay through Pay Pal - that will help you avoid problems. Also, watch out for Scam emails once you open an Ebay account. Do NOT open any emails from someone you do not recognize - there are a LOT of scammers using Ebay as a way to get to you. |

There is a small chance that it can happen, but ebay is good about preventing fraud and often insures your purchases up to a certain amount. To further prevent this make sure to buy from people with high ratings. If a seller feedback consistently says that they do a good job then they are probably safe to buy from. Power sellers are the best to buy from. Ive had an account for awhile and have yet to be ripped off in any way. |

Ebay itself is very reliable, but there are those who take advantage of it.
You have to treat it for what it is, its a flea market/garage sale not Macy's. If something sounds to good to be true, if its an item you wouldn't buy without examining in person any other place, or if the buyer/seller is asking that you do something that wasn't part of the original deal, then you have to be smart enough to walk away. |

always use paypal, it protects your money and will reimburse you if seller never sends item, iv had pretty good luck though, just read the persons feedback before you bid |

It just depends. Ive used eBay a few times and got on fine with it, but its just the people that are scamming, but you cant really know who is and who isn't reliable! Sorry! |

no i never go near eBay. once i bought a chain on there and it didn't even look remotely similar to the picture they had. it was a completely different chain. i also bought an ipod from a company (not a private seller) and i didn't see in fine print that the thing was broken and completely worthless. i tried to return it but the company wouldn't take it even when i offered to buy a brand new one from them at full price. of course i was a little naive then. (i was in high school) and i probably could have avoided those things, but i still wont shop there. there are few worse feelings then realizing you've been swindled especially when you are working your as$ off at a minimum wage job for the money
oh i didn't mention this, but i did try to contact eBay several times about both incidents, but all they let me do was give the seller a bad review. what a joke |

Ebay is reliable....Sellers are not always reliable. This is why the Feedback system is very important. If you do decide to buy on ebay, make sure you know how to properly protect yourself in every possible situation. (ie. What to do if you buy something and don't receive it, what to do if you buy something and receive something different or not in the condition described, and why not to pay with Money Orders). These are just some examples of questions you should be able to answer as a buyer before you buy anything. |

I've been on Ebay for 8 years and i can assure you there are a lot of dishonest people on there. I've paid for things and never received them, and when you report the people to Ebay, they do nothing about it. So, to answer your question, i would have to say no, Ebay is not reliable. |
